Scott Arfield pre-contract deal?

up to the DOF is it not

The DoF & Manager/Coach have to work in tandem, with the Manager/Coach telling the DoF what positions he needs & what attributes he is looking for.  It's then the DoF responsibility to find such players.

This process kinda breaks down when the Manager/Coach is probably not going to be there after the end of the season.  The fall back would be scouting players based on a CLUB philosophy, rather than a managerial one - we then need to get a manager/coach that can work within & implement that philosophy.  (someone stop the roundabout...I wanna get off....)

Hopefully, plans are in place wrt to the manager for next season, playing philosophy & player recruitment.....

The Club shouldn't be fitting around a manger's philosophy, the Manager should be fitting around the Clubs philosophy; the Club needs to scout a manager that fits.

But the club needs to develop a workable strategy with the assistance of a Manager/Coach.  To date, we haven't had a manager who has been able to implement a consistent & sustainable strategy/philosophy.

The DoF should be doing that. Then any manager should be scouted to meet those needs and philosophy.

Southampton keep a black box on managers that they want to, or could, continue their style and philosophy. The managers fit into the club's philosophy.

So is the constant negativity around him. It's dripping out of every post.

If he's underperforming, he'll get stick. And currently he is.

Nothing against the lad, a fine and pacy chap to have ... for later in the game to pick teams off. The way Murty uses him is wrong though. At this moment in time. Kevin Thomson said so last Sunday too. He takes up good positions time and again  and waits for the ball to come to him. That rarely happened and happens. And if that is the case, he shall not wait - time and again - for the next chance to come his way, but get into better positions or try to make things happen. That is what Morelos (sic!) and Cummings have learned long ago. Windass, if played as a shadow striker, should have learned that from Miller ages ago, as Kenny, for all his other shortcomings, always tries to make himself available and things to happen.  Or, like the other two, tries to get the ball himself.

Subjective. The stats show he's one of our best contributors to goals, whether that's scoring them, assisting them, or being involved in the build-up.

I don't mind dropping him for a rest, or to suit the tactical plan etc., but I have no time for some of the criticism bandied about.

But Rangers fans desperately need a scape goat , we need a player to blame for everything even when its not their fault , same thing with Morales , a 21 year old who doesnt speak the language and who has been playing for 18 months straight , yep he misses chances , at 21 who doesnt but lets not stop that putting the boot in .

The other difference with other supporters especially that mob from the east , where as they continually talk up their players and their values , we constantly slaughter ours and say they are worth nothing , its bizarre behavior.

There's no doubt in my mind Josh Windass is one of our better players. However, we do love our ritual sacrifices at Rangers and it happens to be the turn of Windass right now. Criticising Windass is how many fans show they're "on board" and "one of us". It's pathetic, it's bizarre and it's self-defeating. I wish they'd just grow up and develop an opinion of their own now and then.

Why would anyone be signed by anyone DoF or other, we don't know who our next manager is won't they want their own signings, unless it will still be Murty.

Or does the DoF now do the signing and we will have a coach not a manager.
