St Patrick’s Day at Ibrox

Recommended Posts

I saw him as I walked round the stadium yesterday.  I did a double take and was genuinely surprised that no one else did the same.

Apparently he is a genuine Bear.  Strikes me as an attention seeking buffoon.

He’s from Ballymena apparently. Celebrating St Patrick’s day which isnt an issue as he’s Northern Irish. More right to celebrate that than most of the bufoons who were in that stand last week. A tad risky perhaps but it shouldn’t be.

I remember watching a documentary about the Irish in USA. It was shown that Orange Lodges marched in the St Patrick’s Day parades in the past. Over the years its been turned into mostly a RC Irish day and on occasion SF political which I witnessed myself in New York.

The Irish flag used to be blue and the St Patrick's cross is red and white, so no need to wear green to celebrate St Paddy's Day.  John Knox and Jean Calvin hated the worship of Saints, so celebrating St Paddy's Day is very un-Presbyterian.

Also, people who dress up to go to the football (unless children) are fuds.

Northern Ireland play in green but I am sure folk wouldn’t object to that if folk wore their top at Ibrox.  I take the point about dressing up ?.
