A GANG of football fans who sang sectarian songs on a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow following the Hearts v Celtic clash has sparked a police probe.

Transport cops were alerted to the disorder on the 4.30pm rail service yesterday from Edinburgh Waverley to Queen Street.

It is thought there were around 10 to 15 fans taking part in offensive chants.

Reports come after the Tynecastle side ended Celtic’s 69-game unbeaten run clinching a 4-0 victory.

Officers say enquiries are ongoing.

A BTP spokesperson said: “We received reports yesterday of a group of football fans singing sectarian songs on the 4.30pm train service from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Queens Street.“Reports indicate the group was around 10 to 15 people.“An investigation is ongoing.”

Meanwhile Celtic ace Leigh Griffiths yesterday slammed a vile troll who tweeted “I cannot wait til your four children die” after the clash.

Cops confirmed they had launched a probe into the sickening slur. And Celtic superfan Jay Beatty was the target of vile abuse online, as a Twitter troll posted the youngster Jay “won’t see ten in a row”.

Did they not realise Haymarket is a lot closer to Tynecastle? Or did they feel obliged to go and look at the Union Flag waving over the castle or visit Edinburgh's New Town and walk along Rose, Thistle, Queen, India, Jamaica and Dublin Streets and pay homage to Britain's Empire perhaps?

They're a funny old lot.
