[FT] Aberdeen 1 - 2 Rangers (Wilson 14; Windass 63)

Which just goes to show that statistics shouldn't be used with regard to football.

The guy has been garbage. Nothing else, garbage.

Aside from, of course, his recent run of very good form.....

Certainly been a huge improvement in his game the last few matches taking into account he is being played out of position.

However, in both matches v Aberdeen he could have scored from 2 great crosses right across the 6 yrd box if he was only a bit braver.

He's definitely improved the further forward he's played.

Offensively and creatively he's clearly an asset. Elsewhere, not so much which is fine given we have Holt, Jack and McCrorie for the less glamorous stuff.

Everyone into football love stats no matter what they say - 54 titles, number of points, goals etc.

What everyone does to judge players is to subjectively judge how often they did something good and when they did something bad.

If you say a player had more bad games than good, it's a type of stats.

What people like is stats that agree with their subjective viewpoint, when they say they don't like them, it's when objective stats disagree with that.

However, what a lot of people don't like is poor presentation of stats and poor interpretation. They always only give a part of the picture, but quantitatively they are far more accurate than just remembering stuff you noticed.

To be honest, I doubt you can actually be any good at any sport these days, without having a great interest and understanding of stats.

He's not though. He is now actually playing in his natural position, through the middle. He's proving to be much more effective there than Miller has been this season.

I get that Craig but he is still being played on the left side albeit playing with a bit more freedom to interact which is probably why his game has improved.

REDS RELIEF Aberdeen star Stevie May ISN’T seriously injured after red-card tackle from Rangers’ Ryan Jack.

There were fears the Dons striker could have suffered lasting damage but medics have delivered good news.

STEVIE MAY appears to have escaped serious injury following Ryan Jack’s controversial red-card tackle last Sunday. And the Aberdeen striker could even return to action this weekend.

May had to be subbed off after his leg swelled up within minutes of being caught by the Rangers star in his side’s 2-1 Pittodrie defeat.Gers have appealed against Willie Collum’s decision in a bid to clear Jack’s name and that will be heard at Hampden on Thursday.

The midfielder faces a three-match suspension if he loses the appeal due to his disciplinary record.May, who spent 18 months on the sidelines at Preston after suffering a horror knee injury in a game against Fulham two years ago, has been assessed by the Dons medical team in the last 24 hours now the swelling has started to reduce.

They are confident the 24-year-old hasn’t suffered any lasting damage and if he responds to treatment could even make Friday’s clash with Dundee at Dens Park.

Jack’s challenge on May has sparked fierce debate with former Premier League referee Dermot Gallacher and ex-Celtic star Chris Sutton among those convinced it was a straight red.

But SunSport’s Bill Leckie believes May hurt HIMSELF by pulling out of a 50/50 challenge.
