Fir Park damage again

Recommended Posts

Players need more protection from spectators throwing coins at them or "someone will get hit on the head", Celtic captain Scott Brown says.

Brown believes he was targeted during Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Motherwell.

Objects were thrown around 10 minutes before half-time, with Brown and right-back Mikael Lustig then seen removing items from the pitch."People are getting hit by coins and getting stuff thrown at them pretty much every week now," Brown said.

"Just because we are doing so well in the league, away fans don't like that. We have understood it is part and parcel now of when you go away. "Leigh Griffiths is taking a corner and getting things thrown at him. People have to make sure that we should be OK when you are going to take a corner or a free-kick.

"People can shout or sing whatever they want, but you can't throw things. It isn't showing a great example, is it? "It is more when you go away from home, and it is starting to get more and more. We are just getting used to it now. "You go and take a corner, and you have got to look over your shoulder to see what is coming."

Brown initially quipped: "I made a pound again - I am getting good at this game." But he believes the potential for injury is obvious, although doubts any action will be taken.

"Eventually someone will [get injured]," he said. "Someone will get hit on the head, or something, with a coin. Until that happens, probably no-one will do anything about it."It is hard to be fair. You can't see right away who has thrown a coin, but there is CCTV at games and you can look at that."

Perhaps if Brown & Griffiths didn't act like such bellends people wouldn't throw stuff at them.

Last I checked..... Hanging a Celtic scarf around the opposing team's goalposts wasn't "doing your job".

Scott Brown... all his brains are in his feet... and there isn't much that is great in his feet either.

The great problem that they all have is that they take all-round adolation for granted and expect to do whatever they want without any repercussions. Indeed, if the latter happen by, they go great lengths to question even the obvious misdeeds committed by them. And if the SFA/SPFL essentially rescinds clear red cards or let you get away with kung-fu-style kicks ... while handing you nigh any might-be-foul committed against you or award dubious and even obviously cheated free kicks and penalties, there is no wonder how they come to that self-conception.

They now simply know no shame, provoke people by cleaning their nose on corner-flags or hanging scarfes on goal-posts after a defeat against the old enemy. Rest assured, they would get slaughtered over here by authorities and the media. In Scotland though, idiots like the Legoeater are given a platform to lament about being treated with abuse for what they do constantly. A platform that does not question why that same person saw need (as opposed with previous serial wins) to do this after the game:

You simple hope that Motherwell ends their "run", hopefully with an undeserved penalty in the 93rd minute.

I'm just surprised he can actually write.

For a Celtic and Scotland captain to engage in this kind of offending action is just pathetic.

Without respect no one can build bridges.

Charlie Nicholas anti-Hoops shocker!

Celtic star Scott Sinclair lucky to escape diving ban - Charlie Nicholas

EVERTON’S Oumar Niasse is the first English Premier League player to be banned for “successful deception of a match official”.

Niasse was hit with a two-game ban for diving to win a penalty against Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Celtic’s Scott Sinclair can consider himself extremely fortunate that he was not on the receiving end of a similar charge when he tumbled in the box in the Betfred Cup Final to win the spot-kick that helped the Hoops see off Motherwell and get their hands on the silverware.

What got to me was Sinclair’s manager and team-mates all leaping to his defence and saying it was a penalty.

They all stated there was contact. Yes, there was minimal contact from Cedric Kipre, but there was nowhere enough to send Sinclair to the deck.

I just wish there had been a bit of honesty from those in the Celtic ranks to admit they got lucky with the decision, just as they were when they won another penalty in round two with Motherwell on Wednesday night when Callum McGregor went down and Sinclair slotted it home to keep their unbeaten run going.

Would it have been so hard for those in green and white to say they got away with one there?

Celtic deserved to win the Betfred Cup, they were the better side, but they got lucky with the penalty and the red card for Kipre that killed the final stone dead.

But if players are now getting banned for diving south of the border, why aren’t we doing it up here?

Celtic were up in arms when Ross County’s Alex Schalk won a controversial penalty in a 2-2 draw in Dingwall in April.

When Schalk threw himself to the ground under no contact from Erik Sviatchenko, Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers was quick to criticise referee Don Robertson for pointing to the spot, claiming it was one of the worst decisions he’d seen.

His then manager Jim McIntyre admitted straight away it wasn’t a penalty, and Schalk was correctly hit with a retrospective ban.

Why could no one from Celtic do the same with Sinclair’s dive? They are being hypocritical by not doing so.

It’s no wonder we aren’t producing any decent centre-halves because they are all too scared to tackle if the amount of contact between Kipre and Sinclair results in a penalty.

When I was playing I wore shin-guards on my calfs because of some of the challenges I was on the receiving end of.

I wasn’t a diver but I would go down if there was enough contact that I couldn’t stay on my feet when challenged.

These days players are hitting the deck as soon as they are touched and it’s something we need to eradicate from our game.

The only way to do that is retrospective bans for diving.

The answer is simple. They have no shame and everything they get is rightly given and everything that goes against them will be disputed. Disfunctional Reality Perception.
