pete 2,499 Posted November 8, 2017 Share Posted November 8, 2017 Son of former Rangers defender becomes youngest ever Wigan Athletic player JENSEN Weir, son of former Rangers and Scotland defender David, has become Wigan Athletic's youngest ever player. The 15-year-old midfielder came off the bench during the Latics' 4-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday. Wigan named a youthful side for the cup clash, with three players making their senior debuts. And Weir set a new club record when he replaced Will McGuffie with 21 minutes remaining, making his first team bow aged 15 years and 280 days. The midfielder captains Scotland's Under-16 side and featured in the Victory Shield for his country last month.
