Ongoing new manager discussion and speculation

More like: censorship is very totalitarian, be that political or religious.

Communism is very totalitarian. Anyway, censorship is a silly idea, however tempting it might seem in this age of hand-holding and spoon-feeding.

I'd much prefer people posted a link to the source of any articles. It's up to the user whether or not to click it - usually there's no need when the content is C&ped anyway.

The only content we'd rather wasn't c&ped was that of the official website but a short intro is fine.

Well, speaking from 20 years of experience, communism is no more totalitarian than capitalism ... in its various forms. At times people like to compare apples and oranges, when it is more appropriat to check out all apples first. One can quickly throw North Korea, the earlier and latter stages of the Soviet Union or China into the fray. But then again, Saudi-Arabia, Iran, South Korea, various regimes in Southern America and even Nazi Germany would sit on the other side of that particular totalitarian as well as censorship fence. Just saying.

BTW, it is almost baffling how the "West" denomiantes countries as "communist" when there are hardly any around. Neither the Soviet Union nor any other "communist" country really achieved "communism" as per Marx, Engels and Lenin. Even if some were or are led by "communist parties", they are at best very "developed" socialist countries. I would hazard a guess that the Western terminology is being used to differentiate their own Socialist / Social-Democrats parties from the "naughty ones" behind the Iron Curtain. Well, a bit off topic that.

OK, allow me to change my statement to ... socialism is very totalitarian ... if that helps avoid any inconvenient pedantry. Anyway, all political systems are more or less totalitarian when the state assumes decision making for the individual. How does it go again ... government of the people, for the people, by those who accrue power to themselves while hypocritically professing to derive that power from the people. Dictators simply do it without remorse or pretence, socialists do it as a fundamental dishonesty. Y'know, "we know what's good for you". Personally, I detest them all but one thing is for sure, we're on a one-way journey to ever-diminishing personal freedom and the collective submission of the hive. I pity my grandchildren for the world they will have to survive in.

Censorship is very much on the rise here in the UK. Say the wrong thing about certain groups and you'll lose your job and face prosecution in severe cases. We, as Rangers supporters, know all about this first hand.

I'm not sure Socialism and Capitalism even exist here any more. We're just becoming part of the desired globalist monoculture. There will be no diversity when we all think alike.

I can't wait for the day that Ibrox Stadium becomes a 'safe space', which bows down to diversity and inclusion quotas and the like*.

Derek McInnes: Aberdeen say Rangers target has told chairman he's not leaving

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has told the club he is not leaving his job, says chairman Stewart Milne.

McInnes has been Rangers' preferred candidate since the departure of Pedro Caixinha last month.

The former Rangers and West Bromwich Albion midfielder has also been linked with the vacancy at The Hawthorns.

"Derek made his position very clear to me," Milne told Aberdeen's website. "He has no intention of going anywhere. He loves this club."

McInnes has been in charge at Pittodrie since 2013 following stints at St Johnstone and Bristol City.

Aberdeen finished second behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership last season and were also runners-up to the Glasgow side in the Scottish Cup and League Cup finals.

"He knows he's loved," Milne told Red TV. "He knows he's respected by everyone at the club, by the fans out there."It's a big, big part of Derek's life. He firmly believes he has unfinished business here."

McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty led Aberdeen to a Scottish League Cup triumph in 2014, beating Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final.

"He has always said to me he doesn't want to leave this club with just one trophy in the boardroom," added Milne. "It's great news for everyone that he is committed. He just wants to get on in doing the job.

"He's spent a lot of time, effort and money, I would add, over the summer rebuilding the team. "Since then, he's re-signed a number of players to extend their contracts - some of the senior players, some of the younger players.

"Everyone recognises the fantastic job he and Tony have done. No-one wants to see him leave this club. "We know he will one day, but we all dearly hope that he's going to be here for quite some time."
