Waltersgotstyle 307
As good as the latter half of the campaign was - Strachan now must step down. We need a fresh approach going forward. I am sick of seeing the same players constantly fail time and time again. The only good thing from last night is that "Broony" will most likely never play for Scotland again and in turn never make a major tournament.
Uilleam 5,948
The Bauchle -now, I think we may say without fear of contradiction- a 'specialist in failure', has come up with a novel excuse.... "Strachan pointed to the lack of height in the Scottish population as a problem, a matter which will raise eyebrows given the basic level of goals conceded to Slovenia. Organisation, rather than physicality, appeared the key issue. “Technically we’re fine,” Strachan added. “But our guys have to work harder to get on the ball than bigger lads at six foot three. “What I do know is that genetically we are behind. In the last campaign we were the second smallest squad behind Spain. That means that I had to pick a team tonight to try and combat their height and strength. Even at that we couldn’t combat their height and strength at set plays. Genetically we have to work at things. It is a problem for us. “We have to fight harder for every ball and jump higher because it is easier for these type of guys. Physically we have a problem against the teams we have faced in the last couple of years.” Oh for the new Lee Wilkie.....and a taller Manager...... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/oct/08/scotland-slovenia-gordon-strachan-world-cup?utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Morning+briefing&utm_term=247151&subid=1042230&CMP=ema-2793 Edited October 9, 2017 by Uilleam
stewarty 2,027
We had possibly 6/7 players in the starting line up last night who were 6ft plus. He's talking shite and grasping for excuses. Enough!
Bluedell 5,627
If we look at our 2 relatively worst results in the qualifying, it was drawing 1-1 with Lithuania at home and losing 3-0 away to Slovakia. In both games, he want with big forwards instead of going with the Griffiths, who was the wee guy in form. Strachan's ream selections at the start of the campaign are what cost us, and it was him going with height rather than form which was his downfall. I guess he doesn't have the self-awareness to realise his own weaknesses.
MacK1950 2,378
As I have previously said I didn't care one way or the other but until we get a manager who coaches his team to hold on to a lead in the dying minutes, row z etc.,instead of playing needless passes(Armstrong) silly points will still be lost.A result/win would not have been needed last night if that had had happened.

BEARGER 1,830
Strachan must go, too many mistakes in team selection and tactics. Failed and then given another chance and fails again, we must stop rewarding failure. Why do those who don’t care always feel the need to come on these threads to tell the rest of us they don’t care?
pete 2,499
The worrying thing is he said we were as technically competent as Slovenia. I don't know what game he was watching. We couldn't string 3 passes together and punted it up the park more often than not.
