In case you were in any doubt about the BBC

''CELTIC suffered their worst home defeat in 122 years last night — and nearly saw their entire reputation go down the drain as well.''

''It’s a painful blow to Celtic’s image, to their reputation as the loudest and proudest crowd in the business, hailed by Lionel Messi and more for the din and the passion they whip up on nights like these.''

''That passion is now replaced by someone pretending to love their club, their team, their fellow fans, but in reality making a deliberate attempt to drag them all into the gutter.''

Words of non wisdom from the Welsh prophet. I should be taking over his column because I knew they were on to a hiding and he didn't.

Apparently now that some actual reality has seeped through they're looking to take 6 points from Anderlecht and 1 from Bayern to give them post Xmas Euro football. I presume Anderlecht have different views on that.

They may not get it as easy against Anderlecht as they seem to think. I never saw the game last night but Bayern only won 2-0 whilst Anderlecht had a man sent off after 11 minutes.

They have, to be fair, had some decent CL results at CP in the past - but I just cant see how they can get a result, home OR away, against Bayern or PSG. And even Anderlecht may be too much for them. They could be lucky to take a point out of that group.

The funny thing is.... I bet before last night there would have been many of them who actually believed Rodgers's nonsense about being able to qualify from the group.... And yet muppets like Sutton give Pedro a hard time for not being honest about having the best squad ? Why haven't they called Rodgers up for believing they could qualify from a group that boasts two of the best teams in Europe ?

They haven't called Rodgers on that despite how absurd it was from the minute the draw was made because it's obvious the likes of Sutton are fan boys who revel in the fact they have been raking in CL money and dominating the Accies and Motherwells of this league as if that were some spectacular achievement.

They will take nothing from Bayern either home or away because Bayern will be thinking they can top that group to get the easier last 16 draw and to do that Bayern will know they have to take every point available from the cannon fodder like the yahoos.

I foresee the yahoos losing at Anderlecht because they don't travel well and they appear to be underestimating the strength of Belgian football which unlike the Scottish equivalent has been on a high in recent times certainly at an international level. And hopefully we can run them ragged just 4 days before they go to Anderlecht then Brenda and Mutton can pull out the old tired card when it blows up in their faces.

Anderlecht too will be looking at it from a viewpoint of getting nothing from PSG or Bayern but they too will want Euro football after Xmas. If they beat the yahoos in Belgium the chances are all they will need to achieve that will be a draw in Glasgow.

Celtic pitch invader admits Mbappe assault

A Celtic fan’s wept in the dock as he admitted invading the pitch and assaulting a Paris-Saint Germain player during Celtic's 5-0 defeat in the Champions League.

A Celtic fan’s wept in the dock as he admitted invading the pitch and assaulting a Paris-Saint Germain player during Celtic's 5-0 defeat in the Champions League.

Twenty-two-year-old John Hatton, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, jumped over a metal railing and ran on to the pitch at Celtic Park on Tuesday night and assaulted PSG forward Kylian Mbappe by attempting to kick him.

IT happened in the 40th minute after PSG's Edinson Cavani scored PSG's third goal.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court Tesco worker Hatton also pleaded guilty to behaviour likely to incite public disorder by approaching Mbappe.

Hatton, who was wearing a Celtic tracksuit, was banned from every football ground in the UK by Sheriff Sukwinder Gill who told him: “I don't know much about football. But this was a high profile match. It was a Champions League match. It was televised across the UK.”

Defence lawyer Dan Cameron said: “The incident wasn't viewed on television screens. It was 40 minutes into the match. He was taken by security stewards almost immediately from the pitch. The match wasn't disrupted for any great length of time. He had consumed a lot of alcohol and can only remember parts of the day.”

Hatton was granted bail and sentence was deferred on him until October 11 for background reports.

A second Celtic fan Anthony Lavelle admitted punching Hatton on the head as he was being led from the stadium by police.

Depute fiscal Louise McNeil said: “Mr Lavelle was a spectator and after seeing John Hatton invading the pitch he became upset and angry. While the police were escorting Mr Hatton from the stadium he punched him on the head. Mr Lavelle was then arrested.”

Defence lawyer Ann McKinlay said: “His last conviction was 42 years ago when he was 19.

“Mr Lavelle was far from the only person who was angry about the pitch invasion. The consequences for the club could be very serious. UEFA could make them play their matches behind closed doors.

“Mr Lavelle said that as Mr Hatton was being taken out of the ground he was laughing and he struck out and hit him on the head.

“I am told that Mr Hatton is very sorry that Mr Lavelle got into trouble because of him.”

Sheriff Gill said: “Was it a case that Mr Lavelle managed to get to him first,” and Ms McKinlay replied: “I don't know about that but he accepts he managed to get to him.”

The court was told that Lavelle, an asbestos remover, who now lives in St Albans, England, has been a Celtic supporter since he was 13 and takes his nephew who suffers from epilepsy to matches.

Sheriff Gill fined Lavelle £400 and gave him two months to pay it.

She refused a Crown motion to impose a football banning order on him.

Sheriff Gill told Lavelle: “You have been going to football matches for 48 years with no trouble and you take your nephew to matches.

“If Celtic Football Club wish to revoke your season ticket that's a matter for them, but, I would hope they would see sense.”

Celtic have been charged by UEFA following the pitch invasion on Tuesday night.

The latest charge against Celtic comes after the club were fined £20,000 for illicit banners and blocking a stairway during their qualifying win against Linfield.

It's not the first time a fan has entered the field of play during a European match at Parkhead.

AC Milan keeper Dida was slapped by a supporter in the 2-1 victory over the Italian giants in 2007.

Translated: "if everyone is angry then I guess it is ok to punch a stranger"

What a load of rubbish.

The potential public disorder being that Mbappe may have knocked the crap out of him if he had connected.

Still at a loss why players would e.g. shake hands with the likes of Brown or Stokes, not least given the possibility you might catch something. Perhaps we have a different level of attitude as the professional footballers untowards e.g. the Hooped Horrors or their Hibs version ...

Rodgers said: “I have spoken about my admiration for Neymar.

“It would have been nice if he could have recognised the young guy, 18-year-old playing up against himself as a top-class player.

“Maybe if he feels that when he comes to Celtic Park it is a hostile ground, a difficult place for him to come so the friendship isn’t quite there.

“But it would have been nice for him to acknowledge the young guy because he [Neymar] is a sensational player.

“And that sort of mark of class is when those high-level and elite players can show that bit of humility afterwards.”
