McCoist : Sellik Are Light Years Ahead Of Rangers

Recommended Posts

Because King never gave him his job back after he took over

Exactly. This is why he keeps having a go, and why he f*cked us over twice (salary and vote). It's also why Smith, Boyd and a few others have said less than helpful things. They all thought Ally should get the job. They still do, ffs.

They have a few better players, such as Sinclair and Roberts. But they are not light years ahead. Nowhere near it. The main difference between Rangers and them is they are so high on confidence. Rodgers has instilled a sense of confidence that you cannot buy. There is a feel good factor to everything they're doing. It's going to take Pedro time to build that confidence and momentum given the lows we've had. But it's building, saying he has the best squad in Scotland is not about anything other than instilling belief in his squad. It's not for outside the dressing room. That's why he's vigorously defended that statement.

Exactly.

Celtic have huge confidence and lots of morale. We are fragile and it shows too often.

Financially they are miles ahead of us. While they continue to get the £25m-£30m cash injection from the CL every year and we get virtually nothing they will continue to dominate.

If come the new year we are within touching distance of them, they can afford to buy a couple of £5m or one £10m player to bolster their squad and improve their chances of winning the league. It's what we did for years.

We need them to fail to qualify for the CL for a few years and then we may see things improve for us.

Regarding the Yahoos, we should always keep in mind that they had a VERY exceptional season last time around. It is rather unlikely that they will be able to repeat it, for various reasons. If you look at the preceding years, they weren't world beaters and their main personnell did not change. They recruited well - spending 10m last summer (plus Dembele on a free) - and stayed injury free with most of their star performers.

Hit the nail on the head!!!!

Regardless of how we performed last season, Ceptic dropped VERY few points over the course. We lost 9 games & drew 10 - that's where we lost the league....those 10 draws cost us 20 points (without being defeated). The (alleged 2nd best team in Scotland lost 10 & drew 4), yet no-one appears to go on about the points gap between them & Ceptic!!!!

This season, the OF games will take care of themselves - the real focus has to be on all the other games. We must pick up a helluva lot more points from them & we will be much closer.

This season isn't (realistically) about winning the league. It's about closing that points gap between us & Ceptic, and hopefully giving them a scare along the way.

Ceptic are NOT (IMHO), the wonderful team that the media make out....it's just that the other teams in the league are unable to trouble them too much over a sustained period. They do have some good players, just the world beaters there made out to be.

Hopefully with the new intake of players this summer, we will be in a better position to challenge them, but more importantly we're better placed to take the vast majority of points of the other teams. If we do that, we'll remain in touch of them.

I agree, next season for me is the key one, it only takes a few better signings still added to McLean and Walker and we can run them a lot closer... and you just never know.
