Dundee appoint Neil McCann as full-time manager

Neil McCann has returned to Dundee to fill the managerial vacancy he created.

The former winger left the Dens Park club only three days ago having guided the Dark Blues to Premiership safety in a five-week spell as interim manager.

The 42-year-old TV pundit told the club website he had left to commit to his role as a Sky Sports TV pundit.

"I have had time to think about the opportunity of being manager of Dundee FC full-time and decided it was too good for me to turn down," he said.

"I'm looking forward to being in charge for the new season and work has already begun on a number of fronts. I'm excited about the future and can't wait to get started."

McCann took over from the sacked Paul Hartley on 18 April with the club sitting in the relegation play-off spot.

However, they enjoyed a "bounce" under the new manager, winning two games in a row and drawing a third, before rounding off their league campaign with two defeats.

Dundee managing director John Nelms said the club had been "inundated with applications" for the role and that, after discussions "with a number of candidates", McCann had been the club's "number one choice".

Good luck to him, I guess if he wants to be a manage more than a pundit he will have to start somewhere but Id have stayed with Sky. He is a good co commentator for the Premier League channel.
