I presume that he means that it will be used to pay wages of the squad as well as transfer fees and signing on fees (apologies if you realised that already). To put it in perspective, the 2016 accounts state that season ticket income from 37,481 tickets was £9.5m (which seems light to me). Total income was £22.2m. First team squad cost £6.4m in wages. Obviously wages and the price of season tickets have increased but it seems that there would still be cash to pay the other running costs of the club. I actually think that his statement that "all of our season ticket money will be invested in the football squad" is fairly meaningless.
