Teen Hibs fan fined following "disgraceful" Scottish Cup pitch invasion

Recommended Posts

A TEENAGER was spared a football banning order after pleading guilty to a pitch invasion at Hampden.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, ran on to the pitch following the Scottish Cup Final game on May 21, 2016.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the schoolboy Hibs fan made threatening gestures at Rangers fans and was aged just 16 at the time of the incident.

The court was told that the teenager, of North Berwick, had been surprised when police arrived at his home to arrest him.

Sheriff Barry Divers said the youth’s actions were part of “disgraceful behaviour that shocked the whole country.”

He added: “You let your club down, you let your family down and you let yourself down.”

Sheriff Divers, having heard the teenager works during the summer holidays, ordered him to pay £400 within five months.

Yep, we saw the "outrage" spilled all over the papers and the hard hand of the law and justice being handed out to the guilty ...

*cynical mode off*
