Turning shame into success: Rangers v Celtic

Recommended Posts

We're probably going to need at least a couple of years of stability to get on an even keel and this season there was nothing like stability from start to finish. Simply building to be better than the rest at this point will be a huge step forward. We lost the bulk of their lead over us to the others not to them. It's within our grasp to change that.

Yes, so many dropped points have been caused by poor defending against the other teams. That should be easy for a good manager to sort out. The hard part is dealing with what we witnessed today.

refused to play in the old firm games due to stress.

Fair enough if he's ill. However it's peculiar that he's limited it to Old Firm games. Certainly one for his parent club to deal with and if it is stress/depression then it needs treated early.

We certainly can't have anyone not 100% fit.

The board are not going to be able to come up with the sort of funds needed.

We need to come up with some ideas to supplement the clubs income.

For a start the fans groups who collect money should go to their members and vote on diverting the funds in the short term towards player acquisitions through a player buying scheme with future revenue from sales put back into the account to fund future acquisitions, possibly get agreement from the board to match whats put up.

Secondly we must rid our club of Sports Direct. We must peacefully protest their transportation hub and cause delay. Its the only viable( though desperate) action we can take that will influence the day to day running of SD and force the issue. A even small delay to a transport hub will have huge financial ramifications for the company.

While he can't do much about the lack in quality of players, or their spirit in the game, you wonder what he was doing when taking off Dodoo and bringing on Halliday? While not being that effective, he at least was someone able to provide an outball, whereas Halliday was again chasing shadows and if he was meant to stop them scoring, it sure did not work. Wonder also why we did not sub Waghorn for someone with more pace and directness, e.g. O'Halloran. We only used 2 subs. All a bit strange ...

As soon as Garner came in, he drew fouls from their defenders and kept them occupied, as well as laying on the goal for Miller. But there needs to be another central striker lurking about too, which did not happen.

Tavernier, for all his running, was overran quite often, partly because of lack of cover, partly because he was not concentrated enough. That, and decent amount of bad touches and mediocre flanking should give people ideas about his position for next season, even though we do have Hodson. Beerman started badly, but after giving the penalty away did a decent enough job for his age and being on a yellow for 80odd minutes.

The midfield needs an enforcer. Hopefully, Krancjar will be ready next season, and then there is Windass and Holt too, but we need decent back-up and a leader and enforcer still. Rossiter is a good player from what I have seen, if he is fit.

Realistically, we will see a few freebies and very few players coming in that draw transfer fees. We have to get that right to mount a decent challenge and hopefully get a good start in Europe ...

During the next transfer window, they need to bring in good, not decent, quality players & find the funds to allow that to happen. That doesn't mean that we need to spend £m's on transfer fees, but there must be funds available as & when required.

£1.8m was reportedly spent on Garner....so far, he's not been worth £1.80, never mind nearly £2m. Ceptic spend £0.5m on Dumbell & reap the benefits......

Having watched those players capitulate to Celtic, your response is to focus on the manager??? Unbelievable!

He has shown the passion and desire to win and although he may not turn out to be a success, he deserves some time. The focus of any disappointment has to be on the players. We need mentally strong players and although many of them clearly have technical skills and talent, they are not strong enough in the mind to be Rangers players. Once again, 3 or 4 players (who can't be replaced at the moment) are ruining it for the whole team. Bring on the transfer window. We have one enormous job to do in recruiting.

Just back from that pish. Gutless performance.

On the penalty - don't know if you could see it from TV but the ref had no clue where the foul was, either did the linesman. Both looked over at the 4th official who unbelievably made the decision. Was it in the box?

The Scott Brown tackle that went right through Miller - was that not a two footer? Brown kicked, elbowed and cheated his way through the match and I can't believe he never even got booked. The pressure has certainly worked.

Next, the Celtic players repeatedly went over to the Rangers fans to wind them up. The compliant ref just left them to it. I wasn't surprised when the fan came on to have a go although the guy is obviously a tube.

Their fans seem to just revel in being scumbags.

I'm struggling to see how we can get back to where we were. Im gutted.
