pete 2,499
Was the subject on a late night chat show on Dutch television last night. They are televising a documentary about on Monday night. Although he can still eat and chew his wife has to feed him as he can't hold any cutlery. He is now almost 100% in a wheelchair and his speech is almost totally gone. His mind is still sharp but his body is giving up on him. That is the horrible thing about that sickness. On the trailer of the documentary that they showed was a lot on how the Rangers fans are supporting him and how he met up with them in Benidorm. i noticed on his right leg he has a large RFC tatoo. I also take my hat off to his Russian wife that stands by him and does everything for him probably including wiping his bottom. A horrible sickness that I would wish on nobody.
Bearman 9
Tragic thing that has happened to that poor man, a truly devastating cruel illness. A great athlete in his day.
MacK1950 2,358
Really, really tragic, must be horrendous to be fully functional mentally with nothing else working. I know assisted dying is a hot topic but it is easy to see why those who wish it must be accommodated.

Fernando says that is not an option for him as he wants to see his 4 year old daughter grow older.
MacK1950 2,358
Thanks for that Pete as you might have guessed it was a generalisation as there are many more situations than MND and I personally am looking for quality of life rather than quantity of life, and at 66 am still enjoying quality of life with all my pursuits and especially my grandchildren.

pete 2,499
I just watched this tragic story. While the story is horrible it was great to see the Rangers supporters portrayed in such a good light.I think it will have won a few people over in Holland. His best friend in Glasgow also helps him by being a carer and he said it certainly opened my eyes to the fantastic work carers do sometimes with little praise. I have to agree with him. One negative thing for me was when he was asked if he had regrets that he did not reach the heights he could have due to his lifestyle he answered No I think I did get all I could have out of football. Fernando I can tell you certainly didn't and that was a pity.
