The Pre-Summer-2017 transfer rumours and hearsay all inclusive Thread

Yes, I think that there is an large element of us overpaying...partly because of who we are. There's been plenty of instances over the past few years where we've taken players from other clubs and apparently increased their wages 3 or 4 fold whereas we could have just offered them double and they would surely have still come.

We've had a history of over-paying players. Ffs, we paid Klos just about the same as Beckham and Ronaldo were earning. In fact in straight money from club to player, more.

Totally....we regularly pay mediocre players, top wages. Obviously creates a problem when selling on as no-one else will match the wage. Something that certainly hasn't helped any monetary issues.

but cost less than 1/3 of what JG did - that's the benchmark that many go on.

He will also generate a transfer fee many, many times what he cost them - probably in the x16-x20 region AT LEAST.

Yeah, we can go on and on about this, take Boumsong as an example, or some other. We will end nowhere, as we got freebies and sold them, as did that lot. Right now, our squad wouldn't draw that much money, as opposed to days gone by. Too bad that the EPL wasn't throwing that much silly money about when we were healthy and fit, even though we got quite a bit for the odd player. They have a knack of finding people, making them valuable EPL targets and manage to convince the likes of Soton to pay serious money, for e.g. van Dijk. Good on them and credit where it is due. That does not say we won't do anything similar in days to come with next season's squad. If players perform well, no matter for whom, they'll draw attention. If not, they stay where they are or will go for low key sums. That's the reality we face and while we go on and on about Garner, he looks exactly like your average 1.5m striker about. And if you look at it in respect to the market as such and not our budget, 1.5m is not much.

Likewise, re Garner: "given what he has shown so far" is pointless. He will probably play a different system and with different fellow attackers next season. And who is to say that he won't flourish without knowing that? A bit of perspective is sure required.

Part of the issue historically was that we had to pay more to get people to come to Scotland, as it wasn't as good a league as elsewhere.

Obviously now, even penny is a prisoner and we shouldn't be doing that.

So when were they paid the amounts that were deferred?
all contracts that had not been voided where met in full. In the case of SN etc that said we were dead I'm not 100% tbh if they demanded the money or wrote it off.

The Mexican and Portuguese players Canixiha has identified will do a far better job and in my opinion will show the type of character we need whilst also being able to follow the tactical side of training that the Scottish players can't.

And you know that how? Just asking.

Who by? Who paid the players who had deferred their salaries?

I understood that salaries were deferred on the understanding that the club would be taken out of administration, remain in the top flight and carry on as if nothing had happened. At the time we went into administration most people assumed we'd come out of it in a few months. When that didn't happen no one got paid. Are you saying the players were paid their salary in full whilst we were in Administration?

spoke to people at the club yesterday to ask a question a member on here had posted. During that conversation Was told the manager has passed his findings to the board and the player list is predominately made of Portuguese and Mexican players.
