The Pre-Summer-2017 transfer rumours and hearsay all inclusive Thread

Recommended Posts

Wouldn't be unhappy to sell Wes for a decent transfer fee, and use the funds generated to get Walker, McLean and perhaps McGregor? Although time is the great healer, I just cannot find a way to forgive Naismith for 'those' comments and would be unhappy if he was to return. However McGregor shut his mouth, and was apparently gutted at leaving. Perhaps bring him back to replace Wes in the short term and to mentor Jak, Kelly and McCrorie. Perhaps a bit hypocritical on my part, but I don't view McGregor or Davis in the same light as Naismith and Whittaker.

The only thing that's bothering me about the Naismith thing is that it seems as if Pedro has done a U-turn. By all accounts it was a no earlier in the window and now after the Euro exit it's back on. Seems a bit amateur which is worrying. Though it's all hearsay as we may not be back in for him now and it might not have been a no earlier in the window.

I'd be gutted if we sold Wes, though I wouldn't be surprised at all. We should get him on a long term contract imo as it's likely he too will improve with better defenders around him

Could well have been a "wait till later" scenario with Naismith and us, since we have quite a few players who need to get of the wage bill still. And that might not happen straight away. Likewise, it could well be that we expect Tav and/or Wes leaving and any fee we get from there might be required a) to get a substitute for either of them, plus to pay for Naismith, as I doubt he is a freebie.

In today's market - I would like to think £4m for Wes would not be out of the question.

Stick an over-inflated price tag on him in the press - £8m

Put together an impressive YouTube showreel.

Looks to sell for£4m...job done.

They just spent 14 million on Assombalonga and picked up McKay for a song (granted he was in the last year of his contract), they are not strapped for cash, I would say we should be asking for 4-5 Million minimum, he is a great shot stopper and I would rather we kept him tbh, think he would do well with a more solid defense in front of him.

Down there is a different ball game, 4-5 million is nothing to these teams, Everton spent 25 million on a goalkeeper that stated about the English lower leagues till last year and got relegated with Sunderland last year

You are forgetting one important thing.... he is English.

As a poster said above - look at what Everton have just spent on a young English goalkeeper.

His nationality is irrelevant. He's playing in Scotland where to be worth that sort of money you really need to stand out. If anything his nationality counts against him because if he had performed to a high level there, he wouldn't have come to us.

Maybe a couple of years ago - but nowadays £4m is pennies to these teams. If MW really wants him he will view £4m as a sound investment.
