Charlton Athletic transfer talk: Addicks set to swoop for Rangers defender

By Robert_Warlow | Posted: May 01, 2017

Charlton Athletic boss Karl Robinson is reportedly considering a swoop to sign Rangers full-back Lee Hodson this summer.

The right-back worked with Robinson at MK Dons, and the Sun is reporting that he could return south of the border after making just nine league appearances for the Ibrox side this season.

Hodson, a full Northern Ireland international, started his senior career with Watford and played more than 80 times for the Hornets before joining MK Dons in 2013.

He has also had loan spells with Brentford and Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock during his career.

Hodson is understood to be one of a number of potential signings being considered by Charlton, with Robinson keen to reshape his squad after finishing 13th in League One this season.

I might be in the minority, but I still think Hodson is a better defender than Tavernier. And for all his workrate, Tav never reached the heights of last season with regards to goals and assists, the former of which mostly came from wicked free kicks of which we saw next to none this season. Against the Yahoos, he was repeatedly turned or overran by their wing players too ...

What is important is PC identifies the positions which most need strengthened and prioritises them for recruitment.

We must not get a repeat of last summer when Warburton was bringing in players all over the place who didn't improve the quality of the squad. Only one or two were able to get in the starting XI which was nonsense.
