Chelsea have won the race to sign Rangers wonderkid Billy Gilmour

Recommended Posts

Of course he could set hmself up for life. But it will be at the expense of a football career.

So you know hes gonna fail do you? Even if he doesnt quite make the grade at Chelsea,he could(on the very day of his NINETEENTH birthday) re-sign for Rangers as a millionare.

do we get any sort of fee?

or do the same rules apply that got us rossiter on the cheap - stop the laughing at the back

We have indeed agreed a fee with Chelsea in the region of 500-600k, pending on the source you want to believe. That is essentially a fee beyond the "developement stuff" that we paid for e,g, Rossiter. If we had waited till summer, we would be due some 90k (according to the same sources), not the 250k we paid for Rossiter. Maybe an age thing, as Gilmour only turns 16 in the summer, IIRC. Essentially, he is about to sign a pre-contract construct with Chelsea, so the Blues get him ahead of other teams interested. In that respect, Gilmour did us a favour, as he could have waited till the summer.

600K for a 16 year old is superb business IMO

Not necessarily - we have absolutely no idea whether he will make it or not.

I think he may have been better served going to Barcelona - would get better technical development - and the EPL clubs are always sniffing round their Academy anyway.
