Pedro Caixinha axes Jim Stewart

Recommended Posts

I'm far from gutted about this. I believe the keepers have shown no progress on the areas they are lacking on under Jim's watch. For Wes, his positioning and reaction time are his biggest downfalls. He far too often cannot get to shots from distance because he is not in the correct starting position, or moves too late. It looks like a full stretch dive in vain when it should have been saved (take Sunday as an example) if he was in the right position. I would expect the coach to pick up on these things and to see improvement over time in the keepers abilities in his weak areas.

I thought the same with Neil Alexander that he kept getting beaten by bad positioning, also under Jim's watch. Bell was poor also. What was the common link (apart from they are all not great keepers!)?

A few inches either way is a massive difference in that position, and these things can win you over 10 points a season.

I am disappointed that after a long amount of service he wasnt allowed to see out the season to his retiral, but if PC wants to bring in his own full team of backroom staff and coaches (how much is this going to cost to get rid of them all if it doesnt work out?) it appears Jim Stewart has to go with our thanks.

Typical gutter press. The guy is in the door 2 minutes and a simple and expected restructuring of his backroom staff is spun like a negative and callous cull. If this was Brenda, the headline and narrative would emphasise his strong character and desire to do things his own way.

Honestly, who buys this garbage anymore?
