Nottingham Forest set to appoint Mark Warburton

MARK WARBURTON’S bitter legal fight with Rangers will continue — despite his appointment as Nottingham Forest gaffer.

SunSport understands Warburton and assistants Davie Weir and Frank McParland, who are with him at the City Ground, are determined to pursue their case following last month’s controversial Ibrox exits.

Gers chiefs claimed they had accepted the trio’s resignations on the eve of the Scottish Cup tie against Morton.

Yet the same night Warburton told SunSport they had not quit.

We then revealed the trio, backed by the League Managers Association, were launching a £1million compensation battle with Gers.

Forest’s announcement this week that they were appointing Warburton and No2 Weir — with McParland already named as director of football — left many believing the Ibrox club would no longer be facing a potential showdown in court.

Is it not the case that they jumped, prior, perhaps, to being pushed, found that someone had removed the soft landing spot, tried to scramble back, were rebuffed, but now find, happily, for them, that the same safety net is back in place?

A strange situation, all round.

why would they have moved to Notts Forest for a lower wage ?

Unless they'd been pushed

Depends on when their package was agreed and/or if the circumstances changed in the interim period.

Do they hope to salvage their "good names", or minimise harm to their reputations? Do they wish to seek damages?

I fail to see how they could make such a claim, any damage to their reputations is self inflicted or inflicted by their agent on their behalf.

Furthermore the fact that they have been able to obtain employment with another Club of high standing (former European Cup Winners) would tend to suggest that whatever their reputations it remains intact.

Lastly, the bottom line is that in reality they left of their own accord to take other employment.

I'll happily appear for the defendants.
