boabie 230
It looks as though we'll soon have 2 goalkeeping coaches. Would the current incumbent be any good ?
Scott7 6,016
I doubt that Barry or Bomber would have the brains for the job. It's more than just firing them up telling them to get wired into they (epithet of choice - Sheep, Greenians or whatever) McCann is a much better option though, as Frankie says, the transition from punditry to coaching isn't always easy. John Greig was the best analyst in football broadcasting but not quite so good as a manager. Edited March 13, 2017 by Scott7
Davie P 4
Barry Ferguson couldn't coach @ Clyde.....why would he be any better @ Rangers??? Folk are criticising Pedro for his experience, so based on that McCann should be well & truly ruled out. He may be able to talk a good game, but has not experience implementing it. I still say Murty is a good should....but what about Bomber?? or even Pedro Mendes as part of the backroom staff??? Possibly Miller as a player/coach. I think Pedro Mendes is an agent now, so unless he is able to off-load his clients to another management company/agent, then I don't think it would be possible. (Although I have to admit I was quite excited when I saw Mendes next to the Manager before I found out he was an agent). Graeme Murty would be my preferred choice, but in reading the interview, it looks like Caixinho is looking for someone who knows Glasgow and environment, as well as local football knowledge. Having just joined the club last summer, would Murty fit that criteria? Edited March 13, 2017 by Davie P
boabie 230
Is Pedro not bringing his own guys with him and all that's being called for is a local to help him understand what Rangers are all about ? Ie, we're not looking for an assistant coach ? Or am I missing something here ?
Bluedell 5,627
How about Gus McPherson or Ian McCall? They have more experience coaching than most of the names mentioned.

He will have nothing to do with coaching more to do with opposition tactics and local mentalities etc do's and don't' sort of thing
Uilleam 5,948
I think that he just wants somebody to put him through the Masons.
pete 2,499
Will the local assistant be involved in coaching players or is it more an assistant to Caixinha to provide info on the opposition coaches, players and grounds etc? it is to show him the pubs with the best Portuguese wines.
Darthter 542
One reason that suggested Bomber, is that he's already employed by the company (is he not??)
