TALENT SPOTTER Former Rangers No2 David Weir joins Aston Villa’s scouting department

The 46-year-old is believed to have offered his services to the Championship side*in a temporary scouting role

DAVID WEIR has clinched a quick-fire return to football after joining Aston Villa’s scouting team.

The former Rangers No2 will link up with ex-Everton pal Steve Round at Villa Park in a temporary role until the end of the season.

It’s understood Weir, 46, offered his services to the Championship side.

However, the former Gers skipper is keen to return to management this summer.

Weir – who spent five and a half years at Rangers as a player – left Ibrox in controversial circumstances last month.

The club announced that they had accepted the resignations of boss Mark Warburton, head of recruitment Frank McParland and Weir.

But Warburton denied handing in his notice*and has been instructed to wage war with the Light Blues board for compensation totalling £1million plus.

McParland has since been appointed director of football at Nottingham Forest, where the former Gers management trio had previously been linked.

Interesting.

Just who is instructing Warburton to commence, or continue, hostilities against the Board?

Also, both Weir & McParland have moved onto other jobs, which would indicate that they accept the situation as being accurate.

Reads to me like they don't want a management job till they get money from us. Sums them up.

The fact that they have taken other jobs, to me is a sign that that as far as they are concerned, their employment with RFC is terminated.

I would imagine that if you are in the middle of an employment dispute, you can't simply go and take another full time job.

I'm sure they do accept that their employment is now terminated but I don't think it would stop any unfair dismissal claims.
