Rangers fans given football bans for their part in Scottish Cup Final pitch invasion

Recommended Posts

TWO Rangers fans have been given two year football banning orders for their part in pitch invasion at last year’s Scottish Cup.

George Henderson, 50, and Robert Smith, 24, ran on to the pitch after the match against Hibs and Rangers at Hampden Park on May 21, last year.

They each appeared for separate cases at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday*where sheriff Lindsay Wood fined them £500, reduced from £600, and handed them bans.

Henderson, from Penilee, Glasgow admitted going on to the pitch, acting in an aggressive manner towards opposing supporters and challenging someone to a fight.

While Smith, from Darnley admitted climbing over seated areas and on to the pitch, behaving in an aggressive manner and kicking an unknown person on the body.

Procurator fiscal depute Lindzi Bayne told the court Henderson was seen on footage going from the West stand on o the pitch and acting aggressively towards a Hibs supporter.

She said he “clearly offered this fan to a stand up fight by his body language” then walked off the pitch.

The court heard the plant hire worker has been going to football matches for 40 years Smith kicked a Hibs fan that had tried to kick out at Rangers fans and had fallen on to the ground.

The business management student is a season-ticket holder who was arrested at his job at Sainsbury’s after being identified by police on CCTV.

No need to lift him at his place of work.

I'd agree Scott, but he was maybe identified by someone saying, " I know that guy in the photo. I don't know his name but he works at Sainsburys."

They wouldn't have huckled him from a check out or whatever. Probably from his managers office.

Plod Scotland's investigation following the SC final has been a farce to say the least.

Hibs were by far the more guilty party yet Plod Scotland seemed more intent on pursuing Rangers supporters.

I've always suspected political interference from their Political masters at holyrood

Rangers supporters in iScotland(run by the SNP) would be treated as second class citizens

There is a sinister undercurrent in all walks of society re this. I would argue we are already dehumanised in many way to be treated as inferior citizens. Expect it to get much much worse. I also agree there has been interference over the SC fiasco from the very top. Politically and down through the police. Corrupt to the core.
