CoopersLeftPaw 0
I wouldnt say no to Walter Smith until the end of the season. Just get results over the line. But for me we would need to unearth a Marco Silva rather than going down the McInnes, Davies route. Gary Rowett springs to mind. Could we get a F De Boer or Michael Laudrup? I think its 2-3 years too early for them in our current climate. Walter crossed my mind after MW mentioned him in today's press conference. Really hope this doesnt rock our boat too much trying to get 2nd spot Edited February 10, 2017 by CoopersLeftPaw

compo 7,215
The only one we can turn to is Wattie until the end of the season ,he knows the club and the board get him in place for Sunday
der Berliner 3,807
Is Sir Walter still friends with McColl? Anyway, his name was the first that sprang to mind. He can handle the club, the pressure and the media. Maybe he'll take Murty under his tutelage, at least for the time being.
Darthter 542
Walter Smith would be the last name on my list....It is a massive step backwards. Many folk would be singing his praises this week, then complaining about his style of play next week & how the players don't suit a 4-4-2 formation or a long ball.

Purely only until the end of the season. I would imagine he has far more chance of cementing 2nd rather than the inexperienced Murty (no disrespect to the latter).
MacK1950 2,399
If the situation is true we will only be able to recruit a manager for whom there won't be any compensation payment as our finances seem to be non existent.

As has been said, we need someone who offers a bit of stability on and off the park. And the style he played 6 or more years ago also depended on his players. The whole situation on the park is different now and Walter would have to adjust accordingly. Of course, it would be great to get someone like Frank de Boer or Michael Laudrup, but given our monetary situation, would they dare this test?
