Well who's next

We need to have the players and the support aware of when a new manager is coming in. The level of uncertainty is causing the problems on the pitch to be worse.

If we continue with Murty there is a real possibilty that we will lose 4th and european football. If this is the case will this affect our ability to get the manager we want.

If we are going with DOF he needs to have a say in the first team coach being appointed. The first team coach picks the team but contract details, player recruitment and youth development and putting in place a real scouting network, have to be with the DOF.

It seems as though the Board wanted MW out but havent lined anyone up to replace him.

This void is causing the team to fold. They have to get someone who is willing to do it for a few months if our first choice FDB is saying he cant start until May.

God help who ever did come in javing to sort that defence, non existant midfield and attack.

The manager should only pick those who have desire and fight even if they are 16 or 17, as those players on the pitch go into hiding when the going gets tough.

The board have a responsibility to lead us back to the top of Scottish football, the fans are growing impatient/restless so they need to step up to the plate and show leadership and direction otherwise fans may start to disappear!.

I am not having a go at the board or shouting sack the board, quite the opposite in fact, get the mess sorted ASAP

Lifted from FF:

Press Association Sport understands Ibrox chiefs have already started interviewing candidates for both roles.

And they are planning further meetings with hopeful contenders in London over the next few days as they look to reshape their management structure following Mark Warburton's shock departure.

Under-20s boss Graeme Murty was again in charge at Dens Park on Sunday, but he could do little to halt Gers' faltering run that has now seen them win just one of their last six Ladbrokes Premiership fixtures.

Paul Hartley's Dark Blues were stronger all over the pitch than their visitors from Glasgow.

And they claimed a deserved 2-1 win - their first over the Light Blues on Tayside since 1992 - thanks to first-half strikes from Mark O'Hara and Kevin Holt.

Joe Garner did pull one back after the break but the result now means the Ibrox side trail Aberdeen by six points in the race for second.

With fourth-placed Hearts just five points behind, Gers' plans for a return to European competition could be put in considerable jeopardy if they fail to turn around their worrying form.

And that is likely to spur Dave King's board into action soon rather than later.

Alex McLeish remains the bookmakers' favourite for the top job, although former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has moved up the reckoning ahead of the likes of Derek McInnes, Tommy Wright and Frank De Boer.

Ross Wilson, Southampton's director of recruitment and scouting, is one of those who has already met with Rangers' managing director Stewart Robertson with a view to taking on the new director of football post, but there are at least another three candidates vying for the role.

However, no appointment for either position is expected this week, meaning Murty is again likely to be in charge when the Light Blues travel north to take on Inverness on Friday night

We need someone in there with a bit of gravitas, someone the players can respect imo, no disrespect to Murty but he looks out his depth, we can argue all day who we see as the next manager, or who's not good enough. But for an interim period we need that face. Whoever get the gig temporary or otherwise won't please everyone. Even if a temporary face get the job and screws up, i think the support would say ''least the board tried'' you can forgive people for trying and failing but failing without trying is unforgivable, Murty was the easy option imo

The Brentford head of football operations met club officials last week.

Rangers have spoken to Brentford's head of football operations Robert Rowan over their newly created director of football role.

STV understands the 26-year-old met*club officials last week as the Ibrox side look to implement a new management structure.

Rangers are to hold formal interviews for the posts of manager and director of football this week.*

The Premiership side are looking to restructure their coaching department following the departure of manager Mark Warburton, assistant David Weir and recruitment head Frank McParland.

Rowan was previously technical director at Stenhousemuir and has also held scouting roles with Celtic and the Scottish FA. He was unavailable for comment when contacted by STV.

Southampton's director of scouting Ross Wilson and Tottenham Hotspur's head of recruitment Paul Mitchell, who is currently on notice, are known to be on Rangers' shortlist for the director of football role.

Former Rangers boss Alex McLeish has been linked with the manager's job, with Alan Pardew, Derek McInnes and Markus Babbel also among the bookmakers' favourites.

I would assume that the DoF role is quite important and do wonder whether a 26-year or a 34-year old would be suited for that at a club like Rangers. Not least when they could easily lock horns with managers who are longer in the yob than they are old. Not saying that age is that important, but was wondering how young some of the people for that job apparently are.

You are looking for a guy to come in for, what 13 league games, and some in the Cup. I think it will be difficult to get what you are looking for, given the short term nature of the job. One never knows, of course, but someone coming in now, would, I expect, have to be the Man for the long(er) term, which means, I think, that the DoF would have to be in place, too. Therefore, short of somebody doing the Board a favour, this week, we are going to have GM for a few more games, and possibly to the end of the season.

Given the time taken by the board over the DoF & head coach appointments.....for their own sake it better be someone up to the task, and someone impressive.

If after 2 weeks searching, interviewing & discussing, they come back with the likes of McLeish or the like, there are gonna be a lot of angry fans out there.

I would hope that they have taken their time to identify the best possible candidates available for the required roles. Also during discussions, they have made it plainly clear to any proposed candidates exactly what is expected of them from day 1.
