Obviously the Dutch -- and the Dane -- guys know how to play and the above have played under some quality managers in their time. I hope we don't go down the tired route of 'Eck, WS, Davies et al because we have to build on what MW did to the football structure. We must try to unearth a Marco Silva type manager. Hipster option: De Zerbi -- Free agent Italian who had a lowly Foggia playing wonderful football on a shoestring and won titles in Romania with Cluj -- remember them? -- but screwed himself going to Palermo where the owner changes manager every couple of weeks! ascender 352 Posted February 11, 2017 Share Posted February 11, 2017 Until the end of the season I'd have no problem with someone like McLeish who wouldn't be overawed and knows what's expected of him and the players. Longer term, who knows, but we are still skint so it needs to be someone who can manage on a budget and has a long term plan - the last thing we need is any more short-termism. Forrest - was told he was signing George Boyd, Boyd turned up for a medical and no one was there. The chairman had done a number on him so he left Genk - only signed til the end of the season. Was told no budget even though he had one of the highest win percentages in the league after he took over. Zamalek - got sacked for not changing the team and playing the presidents fav players even though they were winning games. Also they weren't paying his coaches. So he left I think we are a shambles just now and having a manager in that's won 7 trophies with us in the short term to steady the ship. Certainly better than Davies. Ffs we've just had a manager that the job was too big for we don't need another. I think I'll stay off the Rangers forums and social media if/when he goes back. Leicester have just spent almost 20 million on a Genk teenager he signed for nothing.
