StuGers 477
As per the subject title - Aird has been released. Another player gone for zero fee.
RANGERRAB 3,884
This is why I'm dubious about spending vast sums of money on a youth set up.

Crimson Dynamo 128
Good luck to him, he played his part.
MacK1950 2,404
Not only Aird but confirmed on Rangers main site Tom Walsh too. Wondering if or will we ever actually see an end product from youth set up or is it going to like loanees help them develop then discard or return them to parent club. Pessimism is setting in wondering how long we will have to put up with Wilson and Tavernier.
Whosthedado 1,745
Some good words from Aird on his departure too. All the best young man
BrahimHemdani 1
I'm not sure how we can "release" players mid season unless their contracts end on say 31 January, which seems unlikely. So either these players have teams to go to who will match or near match their wages, or we have paid them off. It seems Aird at least has gone to Falkirk, it's not clear if Walsh is staying at St Mirren but Wikipedia has him as a free agent https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Walsh_(footballer) Both looked to have great potential but failed to progress; something wrong somewhere. Tom Walsh in particular has been with the Club for 10 years but only played 10 games. Edited January 18, 2017 by BrahimHemdani
elfideldo 411
Fraser Aird's first contract with Rangers was a professional contract so was not a youth player in my opinion

Personally I'm far more disappointed to see Walsh go.
Davie P 4
Or it's the proof we need to. Personally I'm far more disappointed to see Walsh go. Agreed, I was never a fan of Aird, but really thought that Walsh had shown his potential and at the very least, keep him on a for a further year to see how his loan spell developed his game. However, best wishes to both lads.
