ian1964 10,777
I think Tav is still the better RB, Hodson is a steady player who also likes to get forward, however I think both of them playing gives us a strength/balance to the team so I am quite happy they both are playing. Thoughts?

Thoughts? Agreed the team looks far more balanced with both playing. Tav missed three good chances tonight that he on another day might score. Tonight's team is the strongest we have imo. I will have no problem if this team plays against the tims. . Edited December 17, 2016 by pete

Windass could replace Tav in midfield.
der Berliner 3,875
In games like yesterday's this system works. Tav was complementing the defensive midfield work of Halliday and added some welcomed steel. Likewise, he had the freedom to go forward. Could well be that we are trialling this for the Scum game. We sure looked more safe at the back with Hodson, who IMHO is backing up the centre halfs better. aweebluesoandso 290
Tav has more of an attacking element to his game, but Hodson for me is the more steady defender less prone to lapses in concentration.
Rousseau 10,945
Hodson is more defensively sound, but I also think he's more of a team player -- his instinctive one-twos with Waghorn, Holt were terrific to watch. However, Tavernier is a very good player for us; it'll maybe just take a little time to figure out his exact role.
Norris Cole 0
I think Hodson is a better RB. I mentioned in the match thread that we finally have some strength in depth now, and the manager has some real selection headaches. For example, if Hodson is at RB, I'd still like to hav Tav in the team - but then where does Windass go?

For example, if Hodson is at RB, I'd still like to hav Tav in the team - but then where does Windass go? It is probably a thing for where we play and whom we play. Tav adds steel and pace to midfield, plus is willing to shoot. Windass is more left-sided, adds less steel, but more technique ... and also likes to shoot. I don't mind if Windass gets fully fit first.
MacK1950 2,404
Hodson for me as I believe he gives our right sided centre back the chance to play and as such Kiernan is vastly improved, this also is helped by Hill playing.
