ANDY CONSIDINE fired a warning to Rangers by insisting Aberdeen are BETTER — and they will prove it.

The Dons defender has revealed boss Derek McInnes told his players they MUST overhaul Mark Warburton’s side in the battle for second.

 

Aberdeen are four points behind Gers, but can close the gap to a point if they beat Motherwell at home tonight.

Considine said: “Beating Rangers to second spot is something the manager has told us we need to achieve. We need to do that, and stamp our authority on Aberdeen being in second place.

 

“It would be a disappointment if we didn’t, the boys would be upset if we lost second to Rangers.

“I feel we have a stronger squad than they have, and we have proved that over the last few years.

 

“I still think that with the games left we have every chance of being above Rangers by the turn of the year.

“They still have Celtic to play before then, but we have to just focus on ourselves and concentrate on what we can do.”

 

Considine, who will face Well tonight, admits Gers coming back into the top flight has made the battle for European places more intense.

He added: “Rangers coming back has made it a lot tougher, you saw that when we went down there.

 

“There has been a lot said about them, but they are a fantastic team and they have held their own since they came back up.

“They are doing very well, but we have a cracking squad here.

“It would be a huge achievement to finish above them this season, because a lot of people expected Rangers to come back and just slot into second.

 

“But we have shown in the past few years how important it is for us to be in second place because we want European football.

“It’s massive and it will be a tough job, but I think we have the team to do it. We have definitely got the edge.”

They're all better than us till they play us. We're going to be top 6 at best remember? Mark McGhee said that just a few weeks ago And got the same drivel about being as good as us from a Hearts Brazilian after Saturday didn't we. I'm guessing these guys don't even think before throwing out the spiel.

Yes it is but it's not all as bad as the headline would make you think ("“There has been a lot said about them, but they are a fantastic team and they have held their own since they came back up.“They are doing very well..") and, to be honest, you'd expect him to be saying something like this. We have Barry saying that we haven't given up the league after all.
