LEEDS UNITED owner Massimo Cellino has been BANNED from football for 18 months after breaking its agent regulations.

The Italian will not be able to be involved in the game from February 1 2017 and has been slapped with a £250,000 fine for his involvement in Ross McCormack’s transfer to Fulham.

McCormack now plays his football under Steve Bruce at Aston Villa, but signed for the West Londoners back in 2014.

Cellino is required to attend and complete an FA education programme by April 30 2017, which covers the duties and responsibilities of an owner and director of a football club in England.

Agent Derek Day has also been hit with a fine and ban, he will have to pay £75,000 and just like with Cellino will see him suspended from all intermediary activity for 18 months.

Leeds United and Massimo Cellino have said that they will contest the sanctions imposed by the Regulatory Commission and intend to issue an appeal.

Fans of the club are seeing their side for the first time in a while consistently impress on the pitch, as they sit fourth in the EFL SkyBet Championship table.
