The morning after the night before: Interviews

That wasn't the question.

The question is: are we the second best team in Scotland right now?

You want define it and redefine it till it suits you? Yes they are the second best team, I already said that. You want to grade it from game to game? Do that and almost all positions could be ever changing from week to week. So now you answer the question. Who do you contend will finish second ahead of Rangers?

You have consistently argued since the start of the season (I'm not going to waste time researching the first iteration) that Rangers ARE the second best team in Scotland; the facts prove that they are not and have not been up to this point. You defined the question not me.

I'll answer your question once we've played all the teams twice and I see what the January transfer window brings; but right now I think we'll struggle to finish above Aberdeen.

So you define the facts now too? Were they second best in Scotland this time last week when they were in second place but now are not because of the most recent result? And you want to dance around it by saying they're not but can't suggest who is? And if they beat Aberdeen tomorrow than they are second best? You decide it from game to game?

I don't look at it that way. I'm not a bookie laying odds from week to week i'm looking at it long term and I have seen them play better football than any of the two we are sandwiched between at this moment. And there we are right with them while we're admittedly not at 100% but presumably they are and we're still right there?

So what's that going to look like when we get a break from the constant injuries which have been a feature from day one and start to get a full squad to choose from and a settled team? The facts are that we're STILL in second place points wise right now despite all these issues. That's the facts.

No need to shoot at one another from your respective castle-walls ... when the walls are essentially of the same height. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. We should be second if our players would play consistently at the level that they are capable of. For some reason they fail to do this and a blaming game won't help anyone. At the end of the day, THEY ALL need to get their act together, whatever tactic is applied or whomever plays. As long as they don't play up to their potential (and infect one another with that), we will be struggling, whether we are squad-, budget- or otherwise the second best team or not.

We're not better than that, that's the point.

"We're not good enough"; agree with that.

If there's no problems with Martin Waghorn, why isn't even getting off the bench?

Got to try and look at that (MF) situation; hopefully means we are looking to sign someone in January.

Why isn't any of these journalists willing to ask the obvious question about tactics?

I think Warburton tells little porkies. He has never mentioned an injury to Waghorn in any press conference and now all of a sudden he was carrying an injury. Every week he has been asked who is injured and mostly states except for the long term injuries he has a full squad to choose from. I have never heard him mention Waghorn.

Hearts are above us on GD and Aberdeen are 2 points behind with 2 games in hand; of course Saturday might change all that.

Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts have all beaten us by a collective 9-2 admittedly all away; and we failed to beat St Johnstone at home.

However, in terms of football played this season, I would suggest that Aberdeen & Hearts have shown the better than us.

All teams have injuries and have to change their team; we have a 23 man squad as we are constantly being reminded "it's about using the squad".

I think it's fairly obvious that Waghorn is not getting a game for other reasons.

The way I see it we have outplayed the sheep twice, were robbed at their patch, and even if we had just come away with a draw which was highly likely if not for the foul that never was right now they would be 8 points adrift of us. As for Hearts they indisputably outplayed us at Tynecastle but I still think we have a superior squad to theirs and can put them a tidy 5 points behind us next week.

Today I began to fear being robbed again by a referee. I don't normally comment on overall refereeing performances usually just taking it as it is what it is but today was verging on the outlandish. Almost enough to convert you to conspiracy nut.
