CELTIC and Rangers gates have increased on last season along with five other outfits to boost total figure in the top flight.

AS the Scotland national team continues its downward spiral, it’s heartening to learn one facet of our game is on the up.

Record Sport Online dusted off its calculator to find out what is happening with crowds in the Scottish Premiership.

Thankfully, our old Casio delivered some good news.

Comparing attendances between this stage of this season and last shows an improvement at seven of the 12 top-flight clubs.

Also, the total is larger – by nearly 1,000 – compared to mid-November in 2015.

Aberdeen’s crowds are up

Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Kilmarnock and St Johnstone’s crowds are bigger this season than last.

Only Hearts, Ross County, Motherwell, Partick Thistle and Hamilton have seen dips. Some of these decreases can be explained by having not welcomed either of the Glasgow giants to their home grounds.

Neither the Jags not Accies have played either of the big two at home this year – but they had at the same stage last season.

Dundee’s biggest crowd was against Rangers

Here are the figures...
