+ + +

Diego Poyet

Well, the son of former Chelsea and Uruguay international Gus Poyet is not the most experienced player but would be a shrewd signing from the Gers. The ex-West Ham United central midfielder would be a brilliant signing from Rangers, quite simply because he wouldn’t command a transfer fee having been released by the Hammers at the end of last season.

A creative midfielder with an impressive work rate and good technique, Poyet can add a whole new dimension to Rangers’ midfield.

Henri Lansbury

The English midfielder has been the lynchpin of the Nottingham Forest side since he joined the Reds in 2012. The dynamic midfielder has been a success in English Championship over the years. He knows how to pass, can add a decent number of goals from the midfield and also has brilliant vision. The Arsenal youth product would be one hell of a signing by Rangers if they can make it happen.

Sebastian Larsson

Well, Larsson would be a big upgrade on Barton. The Swedish midfielder can play in a range of midfield positions and has a deadly eye for a pass. He boasts 87 caps for the Swedish national team and is an experienced Premier League campaigner. Not a regular for Sunderland anymore, Larsson needs a move now in order to get regular game time and players like him are exactly what Rangers are missing now.

According to Irish sports news outlet The Herald, Rangers are the latest club to join the hunt for Daryl Horgan.

The Dundalk midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to a host of Championship clubs recently.

Newcastle, Aston Villa, Reading, Preston, a number of MLS sides and bitter rivals Celtic have been linked with a move for the exciting winger, who has caught the eye with recent performances for Dundalk.

Horgan has shone in Dundalk’s surprising Europa League run, where they sit 2nd in their group, and he even scored a goal away at Zenit St Petersburg.

The 24-year-old’s contract runs out in early December and he is set to assess his options with Dundalk’s chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League said to be a big factor in his thinking.

Horgan has even been called up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad and he was an unused sub in Austria.

The report also says that Horgan’s teammate, Andy Boyle, is wanted by Rangers too.

According to Irish newspaper The Herald, Rangers have joined the race for Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan – and also want to sign his team-mate Andy Boyle.

Dundalk have been the story of this season's Europa League, having not only beaten Maccabi Tel Aviv in Group D, but also drew with AZ Alkmaar and fought valiantly against Zenit St. Petersburg.

The problem for manager Stephen Kenny is that those impressive performances both in the Europa League and in the League of Ireland mean that a host of clubs are interested in signing their players.

RTE recently reported that Aston Villa and Newcastle United sent scouts to watch star winger Daryl Horgan in action against Cork City in the FAI Cup final, whilst The Irish Sun reported over the weekend that Celtic had also joined the race for his signature.

Meanwhile, HITC Sport understand that Ipswich Town have registered an interest in signing Dundalk centre back Andy Boyle, with both he and Horgan coming to the end of their contracts next month.

Now, Irish newspaper The Herald report that Rangers are keen to sign both players, with Mark Warburton looking for January reinforcements after an up-and-down start to the season, though they could face a battle with Old Firm rivals Celtic for Horgan, whilst Preston are believed to the 'favourites' to land him.

Winger Horgan, 24, has become Dundalk's key player, scoring ten goals in his last 22 games, whilst earning a place in the Republic of Ireland national team, and he would add some pace and quality out wide for a Rangers side who have struggled going forward at times this season.

IMHO, we need a creative midfielder similarly to Kranjcar, someone able to cut open defenses.

We also need cover for Halliday in CM, preferably a tough, commanding chap who can dominate a MF and stamp his authority on a game. Rossiter needs game time, while I have yet to see more of Crooks.

Likewise, we need an out-and-out and preferrably in-form striker who puts the chances away. We usually create enough chances to win two games, but since we have that dynamic attack-line and people roving all over the place, the one who gets on the end of much of the fine work is missing time and again.

I like Lansbury

Angela???

I would like to see a striker (or 2) with an eye for goal like Boyd and a work rate like Miller....not been overly impressed with Garner so far, and Dodoo never seems to get any game time.

Possibly another pacey winger.

As much as I like Lampard these coming to the club you support at the end of your career hardly ever work. I'm struggling to think of a successful example.

Alex Rae? I thought he was good.
