RANGERS could move for Diego Poyet to replace Joey Barton.

Again, being linked with a free agent from the English market. Our scouting has been almost exclusively to cast-offs from the English lower leagues and we wonder why we are struggling.

This lad has been without a club for 3 months, tells you everything you need to know. No thanks.

Exactly this. Until we start scouting areas where there's far more value to be had and affordable talent, we'll get nowhere. Unfortunately, it seems our manager doesn't really have much knowledge of any other markets. I'm not really sure what progress we've made with scouting either.

A) We know next to nothing about "our scouting" bar the signings we made under MW. Maybe I'm mistaken, but we only implanted a scouting system quite some time AFTER MW joined up, with McParland probably the man in the middle there. We needed what was required to win the Scottish Championship and did rather well against Premiership teams. We still got quite a few of decent additions, quite a few foreigners as well, including the youth teams. No-one knew at the time how the squad will shape up against Premiership teams this season ... and hindsight is obviously a wonderful thing.

B) Cast-offs? Waghorn, Tav, Foderingham? Rossiter, Dodoo? Really?

C) Thus far, we are being linked with various people and MUCH of these links come from "our scouts" in the media.

... that aside, we probably to a man all agreed not so long ago that most people plying their trade in the English Championship or even the league below are more than capable to help us on the way forward. Not least since the other "big guns" bar the Scum get their players from Kidderminster and the like as well. And the Scum is off limits this season.

Forrester was a player in a similar vein to this lad, and he's not done too badly despite falling out the picture recently. This is probably Warburton's strength though, identifying players previously under-rated or have lost their way, and getting something out of them.

I would concede I'm grasping for some positives though.

A - we can only judge on what we have brought in, poorer quality players with no pedigree in the English game, but all outwith the top level. MW has now had 18 months to get himself organised, this window has to show some signs of improvement in terms of what the much-hailed McParland can do. Last window was a complete disaster.

B - Yes, Waghorn has had a nightmare 2016, Tav has improved but is still defensively suspect, Wes is getting worse and needs dropped, Rossiter has no history of regular game time, and Dodoo is a total dud who has taken to coming off the bench, crossing the white line, and completely disappearing.

C - I dont really care who we are "linked" with in the media, as it is usually total fabrication, but I want to see signings with a bit of thought gone into them, or at least can play the manager's preferred system.

Not me, I dont (and havent ever) rate the English Championship at all. Every time I watch a game from that league, the quality of player and football on show for the money involved is very poor IMO.

I know nothing about the lad, but my limited experience of Uruguayans screams out, hot-headed, reckless, dirty, diving, cheating, etc, etc.

Wearing a Rangers jersey while playing for us in a Scottish league ? Really ????

It's bad enough signing bench warmers without adding stand seat warmers too.

I don't know a thing about him but if they have indeed decided to take him on they should be getting it done as quickly as possible to get him up to scratch and contributing as quickly as possible. Hasn't played in 3 months apparently.
