Who Ate All the Pies.....Rangers v Kilmarnock Preview

Recommended Posts

RANGERS: Foderingham; Tavernier, Kiernan, Hill, Wallace; Windass, Halliday, Holt, O’Halloran, Garner, Miller

SUBS: Gilks, Hodson, Crooks, Forrester, Dodoo, Waghorn, McKay

Would rather have Waghorn coming from the left than Miller but hey, that's a team that should create chances!

It was a penalty. One more before halftime could kill this off and it's a good display against a team who just beat Hearts comfortably. Also sheep beaten and Hearts 1-0 down while St Johnstone are 1-1

The players are so much closer to one another, which means there are options on the ball rather than being isolated. It also helps with the counter-pressing, so we're hounding them as soon as we lose it.

It's 4-3-3, but the ball-near winger drifts, and the other winger stays wide. MOH has been staying high and wide, so we can ping it out to him once we've recycled it on the other side. His pace is blistering, but we've not used it properly; today we have.

It's nice to see us not automatically go for the wide man; it's better to recycle it in the middle -- more work for Killie -- then ping it wide to a wide man at the end of the move, when he's one-on-one: both MOH and Wallace have taken advantage of this.

Excellent first half.

Let's see two dominant halves for a change. I'm always somewhat concerned after a dominant first half because how many times have we seen them come out for the second and it's a whole different game? Though at least this time we have a 2 goal cushion.
