The 16-year-old is being held in connection with offensive behaviour at Celtic Park.

A boy has been arrested by police probing disorder at last month's Old Firm match.

Two dolls wearing a Rangers scarf and orange sash were hung from nooses during the match at Celtic Park on Saturday, September 10.

Police launched an investigation into the incident as well as vandalism of the toilets at Celtic Park after the match which the home side won 5-1.

Officers confirmed on Friday that a 16-year-old boy is being held over offensive behaviour at the match and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "As part of the ongoing investigation into alleged acts of disorder, offensive behaviour and vandalism during the Scottish Premier League fixture, Celtic v Rangers on September 10, a 16-year-old youth has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with alleged offensive behaviour.

"He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday."

Is 16 considered a man or a boy legally? After all he can leave school, smoke, join the army, ride a moped, get an NI number and passport, have alcohol with a meal, have sex and/or get married; but can't drive a car, own land or a house, vote or buy alcohol from an off licence or pub...

In this case my scepticism and experience of the Scottish press, suggests to me that perhaps they are trying to trivialise the offence - it was just high jinks by a boy...
