Martyn Waghorn linked with January move to Bristol City after eight goals for Rangers this season

Bristol City are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Martyn Waghorn and make a January move for the Rangers striker.

The Robins were thought to be lining up Waghorn back in the summer after Jonathan Kodjia joined Aston Villa, but they instead completed a move for IFK Göteborg's Gustav Engvall.

Swedish under-21 international Engvall is yet to find his stride at Ashton Gate after suffering a number of injury setbacks, and the Scottish Sun are reporting that Waghorn is top of Lee Johnson's wishlist when the transfer window opens in the New Year.

Tammy Abraham has been the main provider of goals this campaign for the Robins and has 11 goals since joining on loan from Chelsea.

Waghorn, meanwhile, is yet to sign a new contract with the Scottish Premiership side and his deal is set to expire next year.

The 26-year-old former England under-21 forward has eight goals in nine game this season, taking his tally to 36 over two seasons for Mark Waburton's side.

Here we go +-16 weeks of rumours until the end of January.

Yeah, old news brushed up a little. Was not willing to start the transfer rumour thread that early though.

I doubt we will be bringing anyone in unless someone leaves or gets injured to be honest. We have already got 5 potential CH's, 3 defensive Mids without Barton(4 with) We have enough attacking players as well and of course an International full-back that can't get a game. I don't see where we can put players without a bigger pool or dumping some off, but they all have a contract until July at least.
