International break

Vogts, Burley, Levein and Strachan have certainly done their bit to make watching Scotland a depressing chore...

We've not been blessed with savvy managers in charge of our national team - McLeod, Roxburgh and Brown did well to get us to the finals, but imagine what we would have done with a better manager at the time.

Although to be fair I wasn't that impressed with Stein and Ferguson was surprisingly poor.

The best manager that I've seen for Scotland in my (football conscious) lifetime, was Walter Smith, but due to our low seeding and lesser quality of player, his task was far too great in a group of death - yet he still only missed qualification by a whisker with some bad luck.

I always had time for Willie Ormond.

Ally McLeod really ballsed it up in 1978. After that fiasco, which scarred the best minds of several generations, supporting the Scotland XI was never the same: the fun and

fantasy was gone, and, thereafter, well, we just knew.......

Getting us there was the least McLeod should have been expected to do with the squad he had. But you're right that Stein and Ferguson might have delivered more given their managerial pedigree (or, in Stein's case, made less heavy weather of getting there). But, if we've had proven managers and, for a while at least, great players and still been no better than average, it does suggest more deep-rooted problems.

I might be in a minority but I don't think Strachan's been too bad and we wouldn't get anyone better to replace him if he went. I was furious after the Georgia game (along with Germany's ridiculous result against the RoI) that cost us a Euro place but it was a tricky group and I'm sure he'd have got us out of many of the others. Unfortunately, the world cup group's a shit too.

I believe that had Walter stayed he may well have qualified us for the next tournament. However, I am more than glad he left because he came back to us for a trophy laden 3 years.

It was the Paul Gascoigne goal that broke me. After that I spent an hour lying in my bed with tear filled eyes. That was heartbreaking. I hopefully will watch Scotland but to be honest I have no idea when we are playing yet.

That was another humiliating defeat which was too much for me. Jeezo all Gary McAllister had to do was put that penalty in the net. Now he is back coaching the Scotland team

The international break is killing me this week and normally they just don't bother me.

On the day of the match against the manks I headed over to France for a break with family and friends and came back with a virus that floored me for well over a week. My laptop was gubbed and I couldn't keep up with what was happening at our club. Then, dragging myself out of my sick bed I had to go to Spain to help repair a mates boat . On return I got a new laptop but can't find anything worthwhile footballwise to talk about as I've missed so much recently - which is a bummer as I'm feeling quite sprightly right now.

Still, I'll be looking forward to seeing the Scotland game at the weekend.
