Gribz 919
After the cup draws this week it shows that without seedings cup competitions are far more interesting. In the English league cup West ham v Chelsea, Liverpool v Spurs and Man Utd v Man City all pulled out in the last 16. Had seedings been in place none of these ties would be 'allowed'. Then the Scottish league cup - and Old Firm Semi final. In the World Cup Qualifiers Holland and France plus Italy and Spain are in the same qualifying groups, it makes out for more interest. Just put all teams in a bowl and draw them out without the seeding nonsense like the Champions league which you need a degree to work out who can play who. Do this always throws up double headers between teams also. Dundee Utd v Morton / Newcastle v Wolves / Swansea v Man City all twice in a few days, that is good for the clubs as responses can effect games after playing a team twice in a few days.
calscot 0
I'm sure we'd love it if we got SP team after SP team all the way to the final, while Celtic get lower division teams all the way. And if it's vice versa there would be a conspiracy meltdown... Then how would Hearts or Aberdeen like it if they get put out in the first round by Rangers one year and Celtic the next...? I really don't think we can do that here and while it can be interesting, it lowers the meritoriousness of the competition, turning it into more of a lottery. It also removes some of the romance by dramatically lowering the chances of the lower clubs getting a big game - and when you think that in Scotland, there's not many big clubs to look forward to. Due to avaricious TV money in the EP, and in the lower English leagues, I don't think it impacts the competition to the same extent. In Scotland you could create a very unfair system of distributing the money between hard up sides. It might be "fun" but that reduces the seriousness of the competition, making it a bit less meaningful.
Bearman 9
They should do 'seeding' on the amount of ticket sales each club has sold the previous season... It's all about the fans.
der Berliner 3,807
They should do 'seeding' on the amount of ticket sales each club has sold the previous season... It's all about the fans. But that would see the Yahoos always on top, no matter how many they "actually" sold. Their ST holders et al are always there, and the kids, and all family. All wearing seat costumes to guarantee the 50+k audience. Edited September 24, 2016 by der Berliner
MacK1950 2,399
Maybe not for all competitions having an all in draw is correct but it could be interesting if one cup competition were to be set aside for this format.

Gribz 919
Aren't the world qualifiers seeded Good shout but something has worked well to get big teams playing each other in games again.
