Fan arrested over hanging blow up dolls at Old Firm match

Police say arrest is part of 'wide-ranging' probe into vandalism and offensive behaviour.

A supporter has been arrested after blow up dolls were hung from the stands during this months's Old Firm match.

Two blow up dolls wearing a Rangers scarf and orange sash were allegedly hung from nooses during the match at Celtic Park on Saturday, September 10.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a 27-year-old man was arrested by officers in connection with offences under the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act at the first Old Firm derby of the 2016/17 season.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday in connection with the incident.

The arrest comes on the back of a wide-ranging investigation by Police Scotland into incidents of vandalism and offensive or anti-social behaviour at Celtic Park.

Officers are probing a number of incidents involving vandalism and offensive behaviour within the stadium and a team of detectives are now seeking the help of the public to catch those responsible

They are now appealing to anyone who may have relevant mobile phone footage of vandalism which occurred in the toilets of the away support section to contact them.

Detective Inspector David Stewart, who is leading on the investigation, said: "We are continuing to investigate incidents of vandalism, disorder and any other associated criminality which occurred during the game.

"Today specifically, we are requesting people with mobile phone footage of vandalism within the toilets of the away support section to contact us.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed or who captured this vandalism to contact police, as it may assist with our enquiry. I understand there were a number of images and video shared online of this and I would be keen for people to contact us directly with any information they may have.

"As part of the wider investigation, we have been viewing CCTV and obtaining footage from broadcasters in order to identify those responsible for disorder, vandalism and offensive or antisocial behaviour.

"We have a dedicated email address set up where people can contact police on the enquiry team, and that email address is CelticRangersDisorder@scotland.pnn.police.uk or contact the team at Shettleston Road police office on 0141 532 4846 or Police Scotland on 101."

Never took the BBC long to counter that statement!

Police appeal over disorder at Celtic v Rangers game

Police have set up a dedicated email address to gather images and video footage of disorder and vandalism at the recent Celtic v Rangers game.

Toilets in the away end of the ground were vandalised and both clubs later released statements over fan behaviour.

Police said they were investigating all incidents and wanted mobile phone footage of vandalism to the toilets.

They also said a 27-year-old man had been arrested over alleged offensive behaviour at the game.

Det Insp David Stewart, who is leading the investigation, said: "Today specifically, we are requesting people with mobile phone footage of vandalism within the toilets of the away support section to contact us.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed or who captured this vandalism to contact police, as it may assist with our enquiry.

"I understand there were a number of images and video shared online of this and I would be keen for people to contact us directly with any information they may have."

The detective added: "As part of the wider investigation, we have been viewing CCTV and obtaining footage from broadcasters in order to identify those responsible for disorder, vandalism and offensive or antisocial behaviour."

Police have urged anyone with footage or information to send it to the dedicated email address: CelticRangersDisorder@scotland.pnn.police.uk

Within a few sentences they turn the whole article into a vandalism thing, neatly chipping away from the actual topic and the hardcore hatred and sectariansm involved. I reckon only the Irish paper actually called it sectarian.

This is so blatant that it defies belief. Same goes for the BBC's coverage of this. While you would almost understand that they stand to their man (Scrote that is), even the most conservative member of that organization would see the blatant bias against us, with far more serious stuff going on around that ground at the same time.
