THE Ibrox club have hit out at those who were hanging effigies and say Police Scotland should investigate.

RANGERS have condemned Celtic fans for 'vile' hanging effigies during Saturday's Old Firm game.

Celtic fans have been criticised for the hanging adult dolls with Rangers scarves and rope tied round their necks from Celtic Park's Jock Stein stand during the 5-1 win for the home side.

The Ibrox club described the effigies as "vile and insensitive" and said the incident marked 'a new low.'

Pictures of the sex dolls - with their hands bound behind their backs as if they had been executed - appeared on social media following the the first Old Firm league clash in four years.

The dig at opposition fans came on World Suicide Prevention Day, and only days after former Rangers star Kris Boyd spoke out about his brother Scott taking his own life last week.

A huge banner on display in the Celtic end also read: “Know your place hun scum”.

A Rangers spokesman said: “Hopefully attempts will be made by Police Scotland to find those responsible for this disgraceful and sickening display.

“It was a vile and insensitive stunt which, understandably, has attracted widespread condemnation.

“This was a new low but there were other unacceptable images which were also deeply offensive to Rangers supporters.

“They were clear for everyone, including the authorities, to see.”

Rangers fans group Club 1872 have also demanded a retaliatory ban on Celtic fans from Ibrox until the Parkhead club can ' prove they have taken substantive action against the Green Brigade and other overtly sectarian elements within their support.

Police Scotland said one man aged 22 was arrested within the stadium for an alcohol-related offence.

In the immediate aftermath of the match police praised both sets of fans despite the ugly scenes.

Chief Superintendent Brian McInulty said: “I would like to thank all the supporters who came to enjoy the match today in a safe and responsible manner.

“You listened to what we asked and behaved accordingly which has helped our officers ensure the safety of everyone attending the venue.

“All fans came out to enjoy the match and soak up the atmosphere and this is what football should be all about."

Record Online is awaiting comment from Celtic.

I hope the club put the Match Commander, Brian McNulty under specific pressure reference his immediate post match comments.

Further, both the current Justice Minister, Michael Matheson and recently retired Lord Advocate, Frank Mullholland were in attendance at the game. The club should request the one out of 129 MSPs that supports Rangers, Murdo Fraser to formally ask the Justice Minister as to his take and direction going forward, on both the banners and effigies displayed?

Chris McLaughlin does... because he tweeted that nothing was mentioned in the delegates report...

That's it, ra Sellik are in the clear from the footballing authorities. The effigies and banners did not exist. Similarly, 4 weeks past at Tynecastle, the SPFL Delegate, Ricky Gray's report was delayed for ten days, and some say amended to edit out the travelling supports IRA karaoke.

If that is true then surely it is just plain proof that there is something horrible going on. They will probably be amending it as the Sun (I think) were the first to stick their head over the parapet and others have now reluctantly followed on.
