pete 2,499
MW needs to decide his best starting XI. For starters I'd suggest last season's MF of Halliday, Holt & Forrester are better than any of the players who arrived in the summer I agree with the addition of Windass being also in the positive mix.
barca72 440
Halliday should have started and Forrester most definitely should be an automatic pick every week. Young Rossiter would have thrived in that atmosphere and O'Halloran could have excelled too. Holt is injured I think but he too would have made a difference today and if only Waggy had been match fit too who knows what the result would have been today. Today hurt, and badly. However, I can't help dwelling on the words of Mr. Struth ... " No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome." As poor as the squad did today I think the only way is upwards and onwards. I think there is enough talent in the squad(except perhaps at CH) that we shall reset and recover. If they didn't know what being a Ranger meant before today I'm sure they are in no doubt now.

der Berliner 3,805
Every time we lose you try to make excuses. The fact of the matter if we were deservedly gubbed today and that's all there is to it. Ah, the excuse club! You wield that with the same expertise as gunslinger was his Vuckic cudgel and Rab is with his "we didn't make improvements where needed"-mantra. No disrespect to anyone, BTW. The point is, I did not "excuse" our faults, but assumed that things might have gone diferent had we not handed them three goals on the plate. No matter how well they played before that. You can sure assume they would have gubbed us anyway, but that's your point of view, not a cast-into-stone fact. Meanwhile, as long as people argue about our games - victory, draw or defeat - as if the opposition was not there, the ref was e.g. running amok, or a lucky deflection was involved (when it clearly was the case), I will throw that into any debate. And if e.g. you deem that to be an excuse, you simply ignore the reality of a football match. Which is, of course, entirely up to you. But perhaps you refrain from preaching your views as being more relevant than others by wielding your excuse club. Cheers. aweebluesoandso 290
I don't mind being given a football lesson, yes it hurts, especially against those goons. But in the correct circumstances it can be a positive thing, as long as we learn what were our mistakes and deficiencies and learn from them. Pace and accuracy of our passing need to improve, stop the giving the opposition an easy target with howlers in defense. There is a defender in there with big Senderos but he needs to be told to screw the heid and stop being rash, don't dive in reckless nor stupid hand balls, you're no a goalkeeper ffs Edited September 11, 2016 by aweebluesoandso
der Berliner 3,805
As has been said before, quite a few and far better players than Senderos had howlers in their first (few) Old Firm game(s). Given that he only played half a game with us before and probably never experienced in such an atmosphere and circumstances, it is understandable that mistakes might happen. Despite age and experience. The Yahoos never gave us any respite bar those 15 mins after the break, forced us back and into errors that came back to haunt us big time. The message for any of our CHs should be: keep it simple, play safe. No matter the pass-it order, in games like these it is safety first.

We matched them for a while and it was nip and tuck, then we sat back and let them dominate for about a 15 to 20 minute spell. That was a big mistake, they got a lot of confidence from that spell, they just kept their tempo up all the game, that's an aspect that needs to be a lesson learned. Nothing we signed is any better than what we have in midfield with the exception of Rossiter. Going forward our midfield should centre around Rossiter, Holt, Halliday and Forrister. We are being held back and slowed up by Kranjar and Barton. Barrie McKay has hardly kicked a ball in 5 games either!. MOH must get his chance.
Rousseau 10,822
I thought Barton was superb yesterday. He won the ball back, passed simply, won aerial duels, intercepted passes, blocked numerous shots on goal. Yes, he was caught on the ball a couple of times -- quite clearly a pressing trap from Celtic, well executed -- but there were very few options on the ball for him. What more can he do? Easy scapegoat IMO. The team as a whole were poor.

Not good enough for Newcastle in the championship at 25. It really bothers you how right I was about that doesn't it.
