Reasons for optimism - September 10th

Recommended Posts

I hope there are no objections to starting a thread for optimistic comments only with regards to Sept 10th at Breezeblock Boulevard. I cant stop negative comments but it would be nice if we could build a thread that we could refer to if negativity sets in before the event. Anything positive is welcome, no matter how small. Starters for 10:

They are already on phone-ins etc saying "can we beat 7-1?". Great - food and drink for motivating our guys and a repeat of Hampden last season.

Warburton will be telling them - 'move the ball like lightning first 15 mins, run them around - like Hampden, their crowd will fall silent, then we will see where we go from there'.

We get the first goal - whole complexion changes.

Kenny Miller telling the stories to the players how good it is turning them over at their own patch and silencing their crowd, and how it's not that difficult as he's done it more than once.

Our crowd giving it big licks relentlessly - no fear!

Bump - for the first time in years we have a free kick specialist brimming with confidence. Even if clear cut chances are few and far between, one foul outside the box and Tav could step up to the plate. Their crowd will be fearing that - make no mistake.

Well if we're to judge by recent form and the fact it's on their patch they have to be favourites but big deal. I will still be looking to turn them over and if it doesn't happen well so be it. All I want right now is to be top 3 minimum at the end of the first quarter because I feel we're in a team formation/gelling period with some to come in from injury lay offs and all things being taken into consideration i'm 'optimistically' looking for the team to really begin hitting their stride going into the second quarter.

Yes DB, iPhone will be preped and ready! Reasons to be optimistic?? It's on grass and not plastic ffs lol. Seriously though, we have nothing to lose, that mob have the game won already, I reckon if we keep it tight in midfield, move quick ball and find some confidence we have nothing to fear. The team from Israel showed them for what they are, average and very beatable!

How refreshing it will be seeing us 'going for it' in their patch after years of parking the bus hoping for the best. Yes it may make us vulnerable but they wont be comfortable.

Rodgers doesn't really know what his approach is. He doesn't know whether to sit or attack in this game. He went for Beer Sheva's jugular at home (and came close to blowing it remember after they scored twice). Then at their place he tried to sit in and got destroyed.

We probably need a strong ref too ... and we don't have many.

BTW, you'd hope everyone got their digicams and smartphones handy that day, as we will be subjected to some fine "banterous singing" from the grey-green hordes ...

I remember we used to have some good banter. I remember a game at Hampden when the Celtic end was not covered during a heavy rain shower the Rangers supporters started singing "The Huns(as of old) are getting wet. To which the Celtic support started singing"We're singing in the rain"

By all accounts their defence is as suspect as ours which gives me confidence that if we can score through a packed park the bus style defence we can score through theirs too. The Israelis hit them for four over two matches and they're not footballing giants are they.

On an aside it's going to be comical to see what actual footballing giants such as Barcelona front loaded with Suarez, Messi, and Neymar will do to them. Rod Stewart better turn up with a hankie for another greet.
