Cristian Gamboa having medical at Celtic

Recommended Posts

CRISTIAN GAMBOA is undergoing a medical at Celtic.

SunSport told this morning how the West Brom right-back was a target for the Hoops.

Celts boss Brendan Rodgers stepped things up overnight – and the Costa Rican international swept into Glasgow this morning.

Gamboa, 26, will now be put through his paces and if all goes well he will become Rodgers’ fifth summer signing.

Rodgers wants to add a right-back to his squad ahead of the transfer deadline after seeing Saidy Janko’s woeful display in last week’s loss to Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

The boss has cash to burn after guiding the Hoops into the Champions League group stages.

Gamboa – who helped his country to the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup - has another year left on his current deal at the Baggies.

He joined them from Rosenborg for a fee of around £2million in 2014.

But he has only managed 11 games for the first team in that time.

Chief executive Peter Lawwell has promised Rodgers funds to spend after returning the club to Europe’s top table after a two-year absence.

Never heard of him. If they've got all this money why are they buying guys like him

Probably they haven't. Had to smile at the comments after the Scum scraped through against the Israelis. 30m to bolster their side before the transfer window closes ... when 15m is the more realistic margin given their group AND the small matter that the money is not being paid to any CL club in advance. But hey, why would we confuse readers with facts ...
