FORMER Hamilton boss Billy Reid has told of his shock at his Swedish side’s game being ABANDONED after a fan attacked his goalie.

His Ostersunds team’s visit to Jonkopings Sodra on Monday night was halted in injury-time after keeper Aly Keita was attacked by a masked home fan.

Last night Swedish cops were investigating the assailant’s possible links to matchfixing — with suggestions he’d been paid to deliberately get the game stopped after Jonkopings scored a late equaliser.

But Reid said the decision to abandon the match was right — since keeper Keita was thumped three times by the attacker.

Reid — who’s been number two for almost three seasons — said: “It was one of the strangest things I’ve seen here.

“Aly got more than a fright — he landed three blows on the side of his head. It took him three minutes to come round on the park and they needed smelling salts to revive him.

“It happened in stoppage time and initially the referee seemed as though he was going to re-start the game.

“But once he got a good look at Aly and spoke to our doctors he decided to abandon the game. He was all over the place and his head was thumping.

“The only thing I’ve ever seen that was like it was when I was at a Celtic v Aberdeen game and a guy came out of the old Jungle and made towards Gordon Strachan.

“But Doug Rougvie got there pretty quickly and you could say he defused the situation!

Swedish police arrested a 17-year-old but Reid admitted he found the incident strange.

He said: “It was quite an empty part of the ground. The suggestion was that he wasn’t even a supporter of the club - he was from Stockholm.”
