DK unfurling flag on Saturday

Default Dave King to unfurl Championship flag on Saturday.

RANGERS chairman Dave King will unfurl the Championship flag ahead of the top flight opener against Hamilton this weekend.

Mark Warburton’s side will kick-off their title bid against Accies on Saturday as they look to mark their return to the league in style.

Rangers confirmed this week that the opening fixture of the Premiership campaign was a sell-out as the Light Blue legions mark the end of ‘The Journey’ through Scotland’s lower leagues.

And it will be King who will conduct the traditional flag ceremony on the pitch as Warburton and his players celebrate their second tier success last season.

Two years ago, captain Lee McCulloch did the honours as he unfurled the League One flag before the Championship clash against Hearts.

And Gers legend Sandy Jardine was given a rapturous reception twelve months previously he made an emotional return to Ibrox to take part in the celebration to mark Rangers’ Third Division title win before the victory over Brechin City.

Pretty much everything positive that we are today has been orchestrated by Dave King so it's appropriate he gets the honour of unfurling the Championship flag. Putting aside SDM's recklessness and legacy, I always enjoyed him unfurling the flag.
