Gersnet Interactive: Rank our midfield players

Recommended Posts

Yesterday we'll started off with the goalies and the defence with some very interesting results and today we move onto the midfield. Please choose from the all players available to select your favoured three players (Note: I appreciate the likes of Forrester and McKay can play in deeper, central roles but they'll be in the attackers section tomorrow). You can also down-vote the players you especially don't want to see feature - or not vote at all if you don't care enough either way!

Tomorrow (Thursday) we'll do the same for the attack to complete the ranking of our squad. This means when I put together the first league match preview on Friday morning, I'll be able to insert our viewers highest ranked players instead of my own picks. It's all just a bit of fun but it could prove interesting!

Enjoy!

After a couple of hours, no surprise to see Barton as our highest rated midfielder but it's perhaps a reflection of our unease with the defensive aspects of the team that seems to have Rossiter, Windass and Halliday all ahead of Holt who is perhaps suffering from a lack of visibility recently.

For me our strongest is Barton Nico and Holt playing in front of them. The runs he makes in behind defenders can be picked out this season with they two quality passers behind him.

I dont understand anyone pressing the negative button on any of our midfielders however. They are all decent players and while we may want some over others, I dont believe any of them are that bad that you would want to press the negative button, as in you definitely dont want them to play.

Or am I misunderstanding the concept here?

Some people won't like certain players. I did think about not including the negative button but I wanted to gauge the good and the bad.

Given the amount of people we have and the options they provide, we can probably chop and change the midfield according to requirements, opposition and demands. I haven't seen enough of Barton, Krancjar or indeed Crooks to make any assessment here. Holt and Halliday should not drift out of the equation too much, who knows where Windass will finally fit in. Rossiter has impressed with the English u19s and the game I saw him. Where that will leave Thompson is anyone's guess, would assume he goes on loan again to get playing time.

Generally, I don't think Halliday, Krancjar and Barton is the non-plus-ultra best line up, and not just taking the Burnley game into account.
