Celtic's Scott Allan close to joining Rotherham on loan

Recommended Posts

ALAN STUBBS is poised to rescue Scott Allan from his Celtic nightmare.

SunSport understands the Rotherham boss is close to sealing a year-long loan for his former Hibs midfielder.

Allan could complete the move as early as tomorrow after being allowed to leave Celtic Park.

The midfielder made just three starts for Ronny Deila after his high-profile switch from Easter Road last summer.

And he’s yet to play any part in a competitive game under new boss Brendan Rodgers this term.

Stubbs is a huge fan of Allan after signing him for Hibs in 2014 and they are now set to be reunited at Rotherham.

His departure would mark a u-turn from Rodgers - who previously claimed Allan would play a big part this season.

Speaking last month, the Celtic boss said: “Scott will definitely stay. I like him, he is a good player and I saw him at West Brom.

“I really like what I’ve seen with him. It’s trying to give him good tactical understanding of the game.

“He is mobile, he can run, he can press and hopefully this can be a good season for him.”

Despite those words of praise and several friendly outings, Allan has failed to even make the bench for Celtic’s games against Lincoln Red Imps and Astana.

He is now set to head south and join Rotherham as Stubbs rebuilds his Millers squad for the Championship.

Allan, 24, was at the centre of a tug-of-war between Celtic and Rangers last summer - with the Hoops eventually clinching a deal.

But his move hasn’t worked out for the gifted midielder and he will now relaunch his career at the New York stadium.

Stubbs has also raided the Scottish market for Falkirk’s Will Vaulks and could return north for more stars before the transfer window shuts.

Essentially, it is a prime example of all the wrongs in the Scottish game. A talented guy isn't let go to a bigger and more progressive club, for rather dubious reasons, while then being sent to a club that didn't need him, hardly played him and now shuttled him out the back-door to some English low-light. Obviously, Allan couldn't be quick enough to sign for the Hooped Horrors, once the chance arose - something he must come to terms with. But unless he works wonders down south, that have been 1.5 years down the drain for him. All just because of spite and green-coloured hatred.

That said, no wonder Stubbs wants him ... after sending him to the doldrums. But a neat understanding between all the Bhoys ... again.

We took the boy to the last match of Rotherham season last year. Broadfoot was actually captain that day... (and was pretty mince to be honust). Dont think he's the regular captain and would be suprised if AS kept him as a regular
