I felt Hodson covered the centre-backs better, and Wilson was a better partner for Kiernan. (As frustrating as it is to admit, I think Kiernan and Wilson is our best pairing - Wilson was good when he came on). We managed to build through their midfield too with Forrester's movement -- Kranjcar just didn't provide any! Rossiter was solid, just like Barton before him. The most pleasing aspect was the incisive movement from O'Halloran, with Halliday finally having someone to link-up with. We couldn't get Dodoo into the game, but he kept looking for that ball in-behind that never came. We've learned nothing new: we're poor at the back. However, Burnley are the best side we're going to face this year. We have been poor at the back no matter who the opposition is. That aside a major factor appeared to be Andre Gray but we wont be facing anything like him again this season. And if any further evidence were required about the central defence problem there it was in front of us. Even Peter Loverkrands went as far as to say they were giving away those goals. Hopefully might encourage the board to pull out all the stops in an attempt to solve this problem. It's good in a sense this happened because the board may have been lulled into a false sense of we're good to go until this happened. And, go Rossiter. Would we be better playing 3-5-2 with the three CB's and both FB's in the five? Difference was a multi-million pound striker the likes we will not face all season - take him out of Burnley team and we would be much of a muchness. Can see Hudson taking over RB from Tav as he us much more defencely minded.
